Rafael sighed and opened her food containers for her.
"I'm sorry for calling you out." She softly
"Don't be, you really needed me. I wasn't going to have you starve." He said
"Yeah, but, I know you're dating now. I don't want to cause problems. You deserve to be happy."
Rafael looked at her " You out of all people deserve the most to be happy."
Adeyemi gave him a disbelieving look "No I do not. Don't say things like that. Things like this are a fit punishment for the things I've done." She said seriously pointing to her face
Rafael shook his head. "You haven't changed. You shouldn't think like that."
Adeyemi nodded " I'm just being honest. This will never stop because I always do something to cause it. I know that. I haven't changed because nothing in my life changes. It will never change. I've accepted that. You just need to accept it too."
"I can't"
"One day, you will." She said struggling to properly eat.
Rafael helped her silently. Both were quiet as she ate though it wasn't much. He didn't pack the food away. He didn't want her having to travel to her kitchen if she didn't need to. He went to her fridge and grabbed a couple of waters. He broke the seals for her.
"Do you want me to spend the night?" He asked
"No. Definitely not. You need to go. You've been here long enough. Just get me some pain killers from the medicine cabinet."
He rolled his eyes and left to grab her pain killers and came back, he stood across form her leaning on against the wall.
"I can stay." He said
"No. you can't. Go home. I'll be fine." She replied sternly
"Adeyemi."
"I said for you to go. I'm just going to sleep. I know you want to help, I appreciate that. But I'm exhausted, my throat hurts, and you keep making me talk." She said tiredly
"Alright, alright." He said softly. He walked over and placed a small kiss on top of her head.
"Call or text me if you need me, anytime. I'll come right over." He promised before leaving.
Adeyemi brought her feet up onto the couch even though it hurt to move like that. She would stay here for the night. She put her phone on vibrate and closed her eyes. She was just going to focus on recovering.
Jaejeong sighed as he hung up his phone. He had called Adeyemi last night but she didn't answer. When she finally did answer it was a week later and she said that she was going to be busy for a while and wouldn't be able to meet up with him. Something felt off about it. Why was the prince of Portugal visiting her? Was he still at her place? Jaejeong needed to release some of his stress and decided to hit the gym where he boxed for a bit. Still his phone was readily available in case she called. He felt uneasy, this wasn't her typical behavior. So many questions ran through his head. Did she change her mind about their arrangement? Was she avoiding him on purpose?
Afterward his bout at the gym, Jaejeong was feeling much better. He decided to make his way to the dojo. When he got there he suddenly froze in front of the doors. He hadn't shown up for any of his lessons yesterday. Today was Ellins classes. Fuck. He walked right into trouble. He took a deep breath and walked in like he didn't just inconvenience her yesterday.
Ellin was watching over her students and yawned. She was tired was teaching MMA and taekwondo and every class she had to give her all or the students would go somewhere else. Royals were finicky like that, if it wasn't great every time they simply left. And Ellin had no fucking idea where Jaejeong was, the son of a bitch. "Yes! Yes! That's it tuck in the elbow and buck your hips while you pull the arm in. Perfect!" Ellin praised the students and smiled, but that quickly disappeared when Jaejeong walked through the door.
"You have a fucking nerve." She growled to herself and picked up a weighted glove and whipped it at Jaejeong hitting him in the head. "Fucking asshole!" Ellin yelled across the room. Jaejeong hissed from the pain and rubbed his head.
He picked up the boxing glove. And sent Ellin a smile and wave "Hi friend." He called. What he really meant was please don't throw anything else at my head.
Jaejeong jogged over to her "I know what you're thinking but it wasn't intentional and I know you're pissed but I'm really sorry." He said watching the students practice. Jaejeong made the mistake of walking into Ellin's strike range and she went into attack mode. She kicked him hard on his inner thighs so that he went down a little closer to her level and started hitting him. "Stupid stupid stupid stupid! Do you know what happens when you disappear? Don't call me fucking friend you dick monkey. Are you trying to get me shut down?" Ellin was just a small ball of anger. Jaejeong let her hit him. He knew what he did was messed up and bad for business.
"I know-ow- I was wrong. I'm -ah- sorry." He said as she hit him
"Uuuuggghhh God its not even satisfying hitting you." Ellin hit him hard one last time and walked away. She was too tired for the and the students watched. "Keep working or we are running a circuit." She said annoyed and they quickly continued sparring. "I was wrong I'm sorry blah blah blah." Ellin said in a mocking tone. Jaejeong looked down at the shorter girl. "What do you want me to say Ellin. I fucked up I know that. You beat me, so can we move on from this?" He asked following after her.
"No! We can't move on from this you know how I feel about obligations if I have to follow through, you have to follow through or you can get out." This subject touched a nerve she hated when people make promises and don't follow through. To her its like lying, if you say you're going to show up and you don't, you basically lied about coming.
"You don't show up, you don't call how am I suppose to count on you. You just disappeared without a word. What if I got sick? the school is looking for any reason to shut me down so they can build some dumb shit." Ellin was just pissed and her being overworked made her even more irritated."Where the hell have you been?"
Jaejeong sighed and ran a hand over his face "Ellin. I never broke any promises to you until now, you know that. I've been trying to figure some stuff out that's been really bothering me lately. It has nothing to do with the throne but I was getting pretty stressed. I was so caught up in my business, I forgot about even calling to let you know I wasn't going to be here. But is it really a crime for me to forget for once in my life?"
Ellin crossed her arms "You do that shit with a normal job they fire you. When you're king you don't get to take the day off. You're personal life is not my problem as a friend maybe but as an owner no." Ellin wouldn't let it go and she was gonna keep pushing his button because he deserved it.
Jaejeong looked at her. "So then what? You're going to fire me then?"
"I fucking should fire you but I can't let this place fail. But I swear to all holiness, pull this shit again and I'll replace you, you know I will Jaejeong." Ellin said using his full name. "Get your shit under control, if it's your fiancee handle it if its that hoe end it dammit."
Jae looked away "Don't call her that."
"Yeah well from what Zituangs been saying it doesn't seem false. So I did some digging. It doesn't look good though."
Jae looked at her "What do you know?"
Ellin sighed her brothers only told her because Jaejeong was her friend and she usually looked out for him. "That she is a manipulator and that she uses sex to get royals and those with power to do what she wants.........honestly I did my digging on her and used my forensic friends. But you should know that's what I do." She looked at him seriously. "I don't know exactly what she is mixed up in, but its raised red flags." Ellin paused seeing the students and motioned for Jaejeong to follow her in the office.
"From what I heard the only people who know about what she's doing are the people who've slept with her and the people in charge. It seems like she's in control but she's not......that's all I really know but I'm simply saying she has been trained. If her sex is remarkable, which I assume it is since you're actually cheating on your fiancee, then somebody taught her to be." Ellin leaned against her desk and crossed her arms over her chest. Before they were this close Ellin and Jaejeong were acquaintances who ended up dating but broke up once he got betrothed to Zituang's sister and were now great friends. "I wouldn't tell you this stuff if I didn't think it was important. And to you it is.....I know that look JaeJae, shit, you used to look at me like that. Be careful she is either broken and you can fix her or she is going to break you and I don't want to deal with that honestly."
Jaejeong looked down, he knew she was right. He had seen first hand how broken Adeyemi was. But those times when she'd smile and forget the world, that was worth any pain he might gain at the end of this.
"She- I just want her to be happy." He admitted "She's been hurt so much. But she's not a completely terrible person. She just doesn't know any better." God, he sounded like he was defending a child.
"And if it were some sex slave shit wouldn't of someone have found out and shut it down by now?"
"Ha! Yeah okay......money can get you anything, can cover up anything, can hide anything. Plus she's a royal, there's definitely no stopping that. We don't even know who is in charge." Ellin chuckled bitterly and ran a hand through her hair. "Drop her. She will cause nothing but trouble, marry your girl and call it a day." She said seriously
Jae was getting himself involved into something he didn't need to be in."You're trying to save a whore who isn't worth saving honestly." Ellin was just being realistic.
"How can you say whether or not some one is worthy of anything?" Jaejeong asked "Yes I know I have a fiancee, she has a fiance too. We both know we aren't going to go riding off into the sunset. But, what if she wants to be saved but doesn't know how to say it?"
"..........Are you to saving her out of pity or love? That's the real question here." Ellin walked up to him and stared up to him. " You are not some fucking hero saving damsels." She poked his chest with every word. "I really hope you aren't thinking with your dick or your heart because both usually fuck up your life. Start using your head Jae."
Jaejeong narrowed his eyes." I've been using my head from the start." She gave him a disbelieving look " okay so not in the very beginning. But using my head and my heart is what got me to where I'm at with her now."
Ellin sighed."So you say Jae, so you say. I'm just letting you know what you're getting into and telling you don't be dumb." She opened her office door and waited for him to walk out."You can rescue a whore but in the end they are still a whore. "
Jae sighed. So sleeping with those men were of her own accord, she was basically being forced to do so. Was it blackmail that kept her there? He had so many more questions after speaking to Ellin. How could h bring it up to her if she refused to speak to him though?
He left the office and made his way to stand beside Ellin, "If you want I can take over for the rest of the day and take your day next week."
Ellin waved a hand dismissively " Forget it. I train my own students. You can handle all of the paperwork instead, for a week."
Jaejeong nodded "Got it."
He went back to the office and immersed himself in the work.
She hadn't spoken to him in two weeks. She ignored him in class and ignored his calls and didn't answer the door when he rang her doorbell. He laid on his couch reading some work for class when his doorbell rang. It was late at night and he suddenly felt excited it had to be her. He rushed to the door and opened it with a smile. Adeyemi stood there nervously and looked up at him.
" Can I come in?"
"Of course." He moved so she could enter his apartment.
She was dressed in a long nightgown and he hair was in two braids going back. She walked to her spot on the couch but instead of looking out the window she rested her head on the back of the couch and closed her eyes. "I'm not sorry for ignoring you. I just had to deal with some stuff."
Jaejeong walked over and sat beside her. " That's fine. I know I was doing a lot."
She curled up beside him and soon she was asleep. Jaejeong chuckled and smiled at her affectionately before picking his book back up. After a while he felt tired and Adeyemi was sleeping so soundly he didn't wish to wake her. So he made himself more comfortable and lulled himself to sleep to her breathing.
Jaejeong woke to her mumbling, he peeked at her and her face was full of discomfort. "I'm sorry."She kept repeating. "I'll be good."
Jaejeong tapped her " Hey." He tried to wake her and she opened her eyes but her eyes were unfocused. She moved immediately to climb on top of him. " I'll be your baby girl, daddy." She said softly rubbing her hands on his chest.
Jaejeong looked at her curiously "Yemi?"
Adeyemi moved frantically trying to undo the buttons of his shirt still mumbling. Jaejeong grabbed her hands to stop her.
"Hey, HEY." He shouted and shook her slightly
Adeyemi looked at him but it was as if she still wasn't seeming him and she rubbed her self against him. " You can have me in any way you like your highness." Her voice croaked " I'll be good."
"Yemi, Yemi no." He needed to wake her up. Jaejeong spotted his half full glass of water and leaned over to grab it. She would stop muttering all the different ways she could please whoever she was speaking to in her dream. He finally finagled his way so he could just barely grab hold of the glass and then threw it's contents on her face. Adeyemi paused her movements and blinked a couple of times. A look of confusion was etched onto her face before her realization dawned in. She jumped off of him and took several steps back her mouth covered by her hands and her eyes wide. Jaejeong sat up on the couch and looked at her.
" What was all that?" He asked
Adeyemi just looked at him "I-I don't- I didn't mean" She was slowly backing away from him " I'm so sorry. I should go." She said before turning and leaving his apartment.
Adeyemi sat on the floor in her living room. She was sleep walking. She was acting out her dreams in real life. She was an idiot. She sighed and buried her face in her hands. The guilt and the pressure was eating her up and she wasn't sure if she could continue anymore. She glanced at her calendar and took a deep breath. No, she could continue. She just had some time left before the wedding. Then she'd come back and change apartments. She was going to break her arrangement with Jaejeong. Realistically she knew it wasn't going to continue for much longer, though it seemed he held out hope. He couldn't be a part of her reality for much longer. Still it was nice while it lasted.
