“Azzy. Azzraelll, I know you are in here, are you tinkering around with your hour glasses?” Raphael and Azrael looked at each other and smiled. An instant cheer filled them, chasing away the shadows of the past and they began to make their way back to the office.
“We’re coming Uriel, wait in the office please,” A short giggle followed by cheerful humming accompanied their journey back to the office and as the shelves opened up into the small office a small figure was perched on the desk, legs dangling playfully and a big grin across her face. The faint smell of storms filled the room and her long golden hair that swept around her waist seemed to crackle slightly as if filled with lightening.
“Raphael, you are here too! Excellent!” Raphael beamed warmly at his best friend. He hadn’t seen her in a couple of days, as she had been on Ground Patrol.
“How are the humans? Still killing each other and the planet?” Uriel shrugged and inspected her nails
“I guess, I didn’t really focus too much on the humans,” she looked up and her face split into a huge grin, “Though there was an amazing storm off the coast of Ireland,” Azrael raised one eyebrow at the youngest Arch Angel, trying to suppress a smile
“And what exactly caused this storm Uriel?” Uriel giggled and pretended to look innocent
“Might of been a fight. A few flying demons were causing shipping trouble and I was in the area so I might of decided to stop them and there might of been a storm involved. I destroyed them all though!” Uriel looked so proud of herself Azrael couldn’t admonish her, and he just chuckled as Raphael laughed. Uriel was meant to do Ground Patrol, checking on the humans, killing off any demon trouble as well as doing her choir job of filling humans with sparks of wisdom and prophecy when she saw fit. Instead, she preferred to hunt down every demon she could sense, ignoring her human responsibilities and going on vast chases across oceans, cities and islands, leaving trails of storms and static electricity as she went. She never left a mess for the humans to see, but sometimes a storm would happen when not predicted, though luckily weather was such a tricky element to predict, the humans barely noticed.
“One day, the humans are going to be able to perfectly predict the weather and your little demon hunts for fun are going to mess up all their technology,” Uriel grinned impishly at Azrael and swung her legs back and forth playfully before sliding off the desk gracefully.
“Well, they won’t ever be able to predict it perfectly with me about, sometimes I just can’t help myself!”
“Well, which poor General did you rope into this little excursion then?” Raphael knew that both of Uriel’s Generals had a similar personality to her, so wouldn’t mind joining her little demon hunts, but he liked to joke about it anyways. Uriel only got into mischief with friends, those used to her ways.
“Barbiel was with me this time! And I did not rope him in!” Uriel pulled a fake pout and stuck out her tongue. Of her two General’s, Barbiel, a tall brown haired Angel who was in charge of the month October, was most like his Arch Angel leader. When those two went out together on Ground Patrol, there was no doubt that they spent the entire time playing with the weather and hunting demons. Raphael shook his head and chuckled quietly.
“I guess you probably didn’t, Barbiel needs no encouragement when it comes to playing with the weather and hunting demons, he is as bad as you!” Uriel grinned again and looked past Azrael and Raphael to the endless shelves of hour glasses stretched behind them. She folded her arms across her chest and her face turned curious.
“What were you two talking about back there anyways? I assume Death isn’t about, though she was here recently,” Death always left an unnatural feeling hanging in the air, a tingling.
