Although she had been warned not to, one of the newly hired maids was on her way up to thank the musician for dispelling the House’s music once again. Soon after the music had ended, she was stepping into the room where the piano resided when the door snapped shut on her ankle, cleanly cracking the bone. She cried out and the other staff quickly came to her aid. They brought her into the kitchen and wrapped her ankle in cloth before taking her to the infirmary to have the bone set by the house nurse. She was projected to make a full recovery, but had to be sent to her town home to spend her days resting as opposed to doing the housework.
For days after this event, the House was strangely silent. There was none of the House’s dailly fits of music for the young man to combat with his slender fingers and the piano. The only thing that caused any suspicion of the House’s action was that the drawers seemed to close a bit more violently than they usually did. None of the servants mentioned this belief for they all feared being scorned for nerves.
