the door for him. Afterwards, I slam the cabin door and sit next to him. Mr. Tyl doesn't seem phased by the fact we are in, quite literally, the middle of nowhere and it is about midnight, way past curfew. He stands up, heads over to a couch and turns on a lamp. Then he sits, exhaling sharply. He lights a cigarette and starts smoking. I decide to sit in the dining room chair where I am now. Sleep falls upon me easily.
"Ben!"
KRACK-A-BOOM!
The lightning and the rain create a strong breeze, shooting my hat off of my head. I see a round disc in the horizon, chasing towards me.
Fsssshhhhhhhhh.
I hear it shooting through the air, right behind me when I hear.
Drlrrlrlrlrlrlrlr! POW!
The UFO is shooting at me when it hits a gas tank, which explodes. I realize I'm running through a corn field.
"HELP! SOMEONE!"
I jog into a barn, sliding through the ground and hide behind some hay bales.
I hear,
Whiiiirrrrrrr.
And a,
THUMP.
Then I hear hay crunching under someone's, or someTHING's, feet.
"Holy crap, holy crap, shhhhhhiiiiiiii-"
'SILENCE, HUMAN!'
I hear from outside the barn. The aliens kick the door open, and before I could catch a good glimpse of them, I...
"JESUS!" I wake up in the back of Mr. Tyl's car. "Ehhhh..." I whimper. Mr. Tyl offers me a chocolate bar. I accept, chomping it down when Mr. Tyl pulls over at the 'Destiny's Danville Diner'. I order some pancakes and coffee when I see my watch is back on. 8:45 AM. Great. "Mr. Tyl, when're we heading to back to Pinewood Fore-?" Mr. Tyl grabs me and pulls me into the bathroom. "You listen to me, Ben. We're never going back there. Ever again. You hear?" Then he starts whispering. "And stop calling me Mr. Tyl. My name is Peter. Talk to me like we're friends. Treat me like I'm your age. As long as you still respect me."
We finish eating and hit the road.
"Peter? Where are we going?" I ask, adjusting my hat. "A secret location in Nevada. A safe haven." He seems dead serious. "Oooookay...?" He continues driving.
