"Bzzzz" I roll over groaning. "Bzzz" I squint my eyes open waking up to see my alarm going off. I chuck it through the open window noting to myself to get a new alarm clock.
"Well" I say "Time to find some clothes to wear for another terrifying day of a game called Life"
After getting dressed I go downstairs to see breakfast on the table and a note.
Hi Riley,
Your dad and I have already headed to work in the city. We will be back late today so don't wait for us tonight. :)
I sigh, This was a normal thing my parents were rarely home and I always had to take care of myself and the house. Speaking of taking care of myself I had to buy the game console today along with some other items. As I finished eating I realized I still had to finish my writing assignment for school.
"Grrr I have so much to do" I yell out slamming my spoon on the table
I throw my dishes in the sink, grab my bag, some money and head outside. I check my phone for the weather forecast it says sunny 1 pm-2 pm. But, at 3 pm there would be a mild storm.
"Ahh" I will make it back in time, after all, it is only 1:57....Wait What?! It is almost 2 pm already"
I start speed walking hurrying to GameGoAs the familiar GameGo sign pops into view. I hurry speed walking into the shop.
I take a deep breath in and nod to the cashier. After grabbing the game I check the time 2:20. I hurry and pay for the game. I avid eye contact as the cashier wonders hy I am in such a hurry. I then start home. Suddenly the clouds grow dark. A strong wind blows bullying trees into swaying and pushing loose items into the sky.
"Uh-Oh", I say I turn quickly to get away from the wind but then I see it....
A huge tidal wave that barely touches the sky towers above me. It's shadow casts darkness miles away. I scream dropping everything in my hand and run like I have never done before. But I know in my head that I will not make it. But just like any other human I tried, Boy did I try. The waves shadow covers mine as it comes crashing down.....
-----------------------------------------
"Hoooooly Tamales", I say blinking my eyes open. Quickly I get up, black dots appear in my vision I lay back down. I get back up slowly, this time, to see I am in a tent, with a sheet on, and a wet towel on my head.
I get up on my feet and walk out of the tent to see several tents around me.
"Hey, Hey You" I whip my head around to see a girl heading my way.
"You're still supposed to be resting! My name is Leila"
Leila sticks out her hand but I don't take it. I wasn't a people person (being an autistic) and I wasn't about to become one either.
"Ah, I see you don't like people. Do You?" She questions putting her hand down.
I still don't answer as I observe her while avoiding her eyes Leila had dense orange hair and freckles. She was wearing a blue shirt, plaid jacket, black jeans, and some Timberlands. When I finally looked at her eyes (which were brown) she smiled at me. I quickly looked down.
I sigh letting out a "No." I hesitate before speaking fumbling with my hands. I'm not really nervous I just have problems socializing "I just like anime, Games, Tech, and Books"
"I see." She says "Well, Well, follow me to go meet the others" She turns around and starts walking away.
As I follow Leila through the mall I see several people look up at me. Leila sees the people looking at me and starts to explain " You are new, people are checking you out. To see what your deal is you know?" She laughs
I give her a blank stare at the joke she tried to crack. I was attacked by a wave and she is joking about people checking me out?!?!?
Noticing I am not laughing she stops smiling and continues walking explaining all the rules and how I will have to help out.... That's where I stop her there
"Who said I am staying, I" I say staring her down
"W-Well you have to" She stutters out surprised "You have a debt to pay after all. We helped you to so you help us"
"No I am going on my own I don't need other people I have been by myself for a long time." I say my temper rising quickly "I am not gonna start depending on people now."
She stares silently, her mouth gaping open and closed. I calm myself and begin to explain.
"You see I am not used to this I'm not really sorry but I don't usually interact with other people and I just rather stay by myself. I am positive I can survive on my own." I am shocked I haven't spazzed out yet.
Leila just gapes at me for a few more moments speechless.
"O-oh It's OK" She stutters interrupting me quickly. She puts her hands out in front of her on my chest and gives me a reassuring nod.
"Are you sure you can't?" She says looking me in the eye earnestly "Think it over tonight but for now I would like for you to meet my friends. I am sure you will get accustomed to the setting gradually"
I take a deep breath clutch my hands together and nod twice. She smiles and continues walking leading me through an intricate web of tents and people.
I am thankful she doesn't touch me. Most people couldn't touch without be spazzing. Only few were able to and they could only do it for 5-10 seconds at a time. That reminded me....I don't have my medication. Oh No!
