A man who looks older with white-gray hair walks over with dark blue eyes and wrinkled skin. "Void?" He asks me. "Yes." Purity doesn't give me a chance to respond but answers for me. Am I supposed to now what to answer? The Elders always said to never to the mundane. So why is Purity so trusting of this man?
The man nods and gestures for us to follow. He doesn't move and Purity walks off. I hurry after her and she leads me to a spare, mostly empty bedroom. "My room is down the hall if you need anything. You start work tomorrow and the bathroom is at the end of the hall." Her eyes don't widen or narrow. She doesn't even hesitate. I just nod and she turns and heads back downstairs to the shop.
I can hear her steps on the hardwood floor. Tik-tak, tik-tak. She was wearing boots and mortal clothes. They look nice on her. See back home those of light, like Purity, are considered higher-up. In Purity's case, royalty. In her mortal form she has a tattoo on her right arm and shoulder. Not a sleeve, no, just a vine of leaves crawling up her arm ending in a moon and sun symbol. The same moon and sun emblem that was on her bracelet. I, however have a winding green and black snake on my right leg and stomach, normally hidden.
It's just our bonds to our mana. I hear voices drift from downstairs and I walk out down the hallway. I walk into the bathroom. In the bathroom I undress and step into the shower, turning on the water I notice the towels on the rack by the door. After I finish I go to walk out of the bathroom in a towel and the door opens just as I reach for the knob.
Purity stands there and she yelps, slamming the door and I hear her running down the hall. Crap. ~~~
