The goddess of love, Aphrodite, awoken to the screams of a helpless teenager. She tugged at her milked-coffee hair and her voice went hoarse, “Little mangy girl! I adore your attempt with love, however, you do not disturb my beauty rest!”
She groaned wearily and glanced behind her, only to notice a human happily snoring. She smirked and murmured, “Hypnos, this one seems to be enjoying his rest.” She turned again and found the god of sleep, Hypnos, glaring right into her chocolate eyes. Hypnos was floating above the ground. He folded his arms, “For a human who is dealing with a lot of demons right now, he deserves some jumping sheep every once in awhile.”
She crossed her legs and leaned back on the soft bed, “Or maybe he’s joyous after sleeping with a goddess, especially one like me,” she pointed to herself speaking dignifiedly. Hypnos rolled his eyes and commented sarcastically, “Sure thing, lovergirl.” Aphrodite leaned forward and glared at him while he giggled.
Aphrodite stood from the bed and left the motel with a gleaming robe and comfortable sandals. Hypnos quickly gravitated towards her, eventually floating down to the ground to walk at an equal pace. Aphrodite waltzed through the quiet streets and to the town square, she glimpsed at the modern clock in the middle of the crossroads. The time read: 5:00 A.M.
She rested her finger on her soft lips and pondered, “The girl that disrupted my beauty rest earlier.. Was she awake at a time like this or did she just wake up? That teenager must be pretty shaken..” Hypnos treaded in front of Aphrodite, placed his finger on hers and tilted her head up. He spoke wistfully, “There seems to be a problem with this feline.” Aphrodite pushed his hand away and giggled, “Sorry, just thinking of this love-struck teenager. Her hollers woke me up, actually.” Hypnos shrugged, “Well at least it wasn’t a weird guy.” Aphrodite responded in surprise, “You know, that’s somewhat true.” They both laughed.
“Well I must go, someone has been dreaming up a nightmare instead of singing blue birds,” Hypnos cheerfully told Aphrodite as he waved her goodbye. He bounced from the pavement to a brick home and continuously hopped until he leaped once more, glided towards the sky and was out of sight.
Aphrodite sighed while letting her hand run through her silky hair. She breathed, “Time to go help out that crying Doe.”
