The first day of school. A day where you meet your new teachers, a day when you see your friends again, a day when you are back to work.
Well, it’s not like that for me now.
I am going to Mountain Vista Middle School. A school that I have NEVER gone to before. Over the summer my family was relocated from Lovingston, Virginia to Salem, Oregon. Across the whole country.
So, I have NEVER met any friends yet. So, good luck me on August 26! Which is today. Which is nerve wracking.
The worst part HAS to be sitting on the buses. I have experienced a crazy, crazy, bus and nothing has more fury than a bus driving kids to and from middle school.
Now, I sit on the bus, and I REALLY hope that it’s a calm transportation system, or I’m gonna bike to and from school.
Turns out, that the bus was a zoo.
A literal zoo.
As I walked onto the bus and looked out over the seats, I could see craziness at it’s finest.
Kids were screaming, Kids were screaming “Be quiet!”, people were throwing wrinkled papers at each other, and the boys were playing on their 3Ds’s turned on maximum volume.
I slowly crept down the aisle looking for an open seat. The only one I could find was in the back near the screaming boys. As I sat down, I thought “I really hope I don’t stay here for the rest of the year.”
I Sat there the whole way through the ride looking out the window. At one point when at an intersection, A felt a crumbled paper hit my shoulder. As it bounced off of itt, I looked to the side to see three boys sitting in the seat across from me giggling. I grabbed the piece of crumbled paper and threw it back at them.
“Leave me alone.” I quietly said while giving them a dirty look.
I felt like I was about to drift away into sleep when we finally arrived at Mountain Vista Middle School.
When the bus stopped, the back just filled with a bunch of rambunctious middle schoolers pushing and shoving to get in the line. One kid fell down onto my seat and was an inch from falling ontop of me.
After ten straight minutes, I finally stepped onto the concrete and headed into the school. As I got closer to front door, the denser it got of people per square meter. Pretty soon, there was three or more kids per square foot! Once I finally got in the school I looked up and noticed a hallway to my left and one in front of me. I stepped to the side and pulled my schedule and map out of my backpack. I first looked at the schedule and noticed my gym class was first. I then looked at my map and the map told me that the gym was down the hall in front of me and then to my right, and my right again.
What’s fortunate is that my locker was right next to the gym so on my way I could put my backpack into my locker. I looked closely at my map on my way. Every so often I would look up to see if I was is the right place, and every time I was.
When I finally got to my locker I noticed I had one on the bottom. I unlocked it using the code 9,10,21 and opened it with a jerk.
I set my backpack onto the bottom of my locker, closed it and set off down the halls and into the gym room.
It was quite large, larger than the one at my old school. I examined it for what felt like hours, until I felt a hard shove on my shoulder, almost knocking me down. I turned around to see what had ran into me, and all I saw was another girl.
She was much, much taller than me. I felt like a helpless ant standing next to her. She also had long, wavy blonde hair and what seemed like spotless skin. But, she had a lot of wrinkles on her face because she seemed to me angry with me.
“Stop standing there and get moving!” She said loudly.
“S-sorry!” I said back to her so quietly I couldn’t even hear myself. She then put her hand on her hip and looked annoyed.
“If you’re just going to be motionless brick, then stay somewhere that’s not in my way.”
I didn’t reply. There was nothing that had to be said. I just let her wander off into a room titled “girls’ locker room.” After a few seconds I followed her into it.
When I got in, I noticed a bunch of red lockers much, much smaller than the ones out in the hall. Those were gym lockers, and I knew mine was locker 289.
I walked to where it was supposed to be and unlocked it. I then took out my gym clothes that was put in at the orientation. I picked it up and walked to an empty bathroom stall and quickly changed into the green and black gym suit.
I was excited to see how I looked with it on, since I’ve never worn it. Once I got done changing, I stepped outside and looked at myself in the mirror.
Who knew green would fit me?
