After lunch ended, Haruka walked down the hall back to her class. She said she was in the class down the hall. I said my goodbyes and then we had our next classes. It was just more review. After class ended all the kids sat around their desks and chatted with each other.

I grabbed my bag and took my book out of it. I was still at the start of "April". I liked the cover. There was a rainbow on the bottom of it, and a tree in the middle. I think it was an oak tree. But don't ask me because I am not a tree expert.

I read through a couple of pages and was expecting to hear Haruka's laughter at any moment. I heard her foot steps from down the hall. I knew they were hers because they sounded like happiness if that makes any sense. Some of the chatting girls that sat two rows in front of me pointed at her. Those girls were all wearing ugly red pumps, long colorful socks, and thick coats of eye shadow.

I do not know how they managed to get into school looking like that. Since I guarantee that breaks almost every school rule. They were laughing at Haruka too. I put my book own and leaned over to see what the commotion was all about. Haruka was running down the hall with a kick me sign on her back. It was ridiculous.

Only Haruka wouldn't notice a hoard of kids laughing at her. She was kind of dense. She saw me through the door and as soon as our eyes met she ran over. "Why are they all laughing at me?" she complained while placing herself in an empty seat nearby. She dropped her backpack to the floor and dropped her head onto my desk. "Haruka? Someone placed a kick me sign on your back" I confessed. "It was kind of fun to see you run around like a headless chicken though." I said in a snotty voice. She removed the note from her back and threw it in the trash bin in the front of the class room. When she walked back she made the face " I'm gonna kill you" at me.

I smiled and giggled loudly. Her lips turned from a frown to a frowning smile and then from that to a full on smile with teeth included. We laughed and teased each other for a while after that.

It was getting late and I needed to go home. For a first day though I can honestly say it was pretty good. It wasn’t really special though. It was nice having Haruka around but it still didn’t feel special. It was the same as last year.

Haruka looked over at me and immediately saw that I looked a bit gloomy." Hey April, Let's walk home together." she said with a bit of a giggle. I think she was trying to cheer me up. " Sure, why not" I answered. I put my book back into my bag, picked it up, and pushed my chair in. Haruka did the same.

The girls who sat two rows in front of me looked at us for a moment, and then went back to talking about whatever snotty things, snotty girls, with snotty faces liked to talk about. Me and Haruka walked by them and out the door.

We walked down the halls. I remembered the I had come to school so I knew exactly how to leave. We made it to the entrance of the school, which would now be used as the exit. Most of the other kids were leaving about now too. I noticed the smell in the air and remembered the rain. It was still raining.
