I begin to stare at Rose for the entire trip, and it didn't help that she stared out the window for some of the trip and casually sneak glances at me when I stopped staring. I could tell that she liked me, but I stopped thinking about that and started wondering about her arms. Little did I know.
Time passed and I could tell that Matt was lost. So we ended up driving on this two way road in what it seemed like the middle of nowhere. The girl riding shotgun suggested that we try to find a place, like a restaurant, and ask for directions. But Matt wanted to find the camping ground on his own. So that's what he tried to do.
I glanced at the back seat and two of the boys were asleep, and sooner or later I found out their names. Richie and Darren. And the girl riding shotgun was named Natalie. I was getting nervous and thinking that we might die out here. But I didn't want to think about that, so I starred at Rose but she was reading a book.
"Hey... Do you think we'll die out here?" I asked Rose.
"I don't want to think about that actually... I hope not." She responded.
I got embarrassed. But she didn't mind.
Matt continued to drive down the road with no progress whatsoever. I started staring out the window, and out of the corner of my eye I spot a blue butterfly. It didn't look like a normal butterfly, and assumed that it was a side effect of me being tired and bored out of my mind.
"What is this guy doing?" Matt whispered to himself.
I continue to stare out the window assuming it's a drunk guy on the side of the road or something. But I wrong. I looked away from the window to the front of the vehicle and see a big pickup truck gliding from the left lane, to the right lane where we were. Matt just continued to drive.
The front tire of the pickup truck was fully on the right lane, and Matt was getting a little nervous. He continued to drive as normal.
I stared out the window once more and saw that blue butterfly again, and I wanted to tell Rose, but once I looked up at her she was screaming, and so were the rest of the passengers. And we were just seconds away from being crushed by a large pickup truck driving at about 100 MPH in the middle of nowhere. Little did I know.
