The rabbit’s soft pink nose wrinkled, allowing it take a stronger sniff at the night air. Something was wrong, it could feel its senses tingling, but that was the only thing amiss. Everything else was perfectly normal. The bright white light of the moon shone down and bathed everything in its glow. Its immense form lit up the night sky. The wind blew softly through the trees, causing them to rustle and the rabbit’s fur to prickle imperceptibly. Indeed, everything seemed normal, except ― There it was again. That strange smell. To the rabbit, it smelt much like the scent of man, but something was not normal about it. Something simply wasn’t right. The strangeness thrust the thoughts to the front of the cottontail’s mind. The rabbit started to take flight, but it was too late. The beast was upon the rabbit before its feet had even left the ground. The beast tore into it. The light went out. The rabbit was no more.
