“Hey, (f/n)?” he then said, breaking the silence. As a response, you looked up only to see him looking down at you with the most nervous expression you’d ever seen him wear. Just seeing him like that actually made you somewhat nervous. “W-What is it, Takuma?”
You cursed yourself for stuttering, especially when he obviously was the most nervous out of the two of you for once. Much to your surprise however, he didn’t even seem to pay it much attention. Instead, he raised one hand from the small of your back, instead letting it rest at the back of your head while his fingers tangled themselves into your hair. For what felt like the millionth time that evening, your face started heating up at his actions. Not really sure what he was doing, nor why he was doing it, you simply looked him straight in the eye with a confused expression.
The two of you soon stopped moving altogether and staring into his eyes proved to be a bad idea as you yet again felt yourself getting lost in them. It was to the degree where you almost didn’t notice him moving closer. Almost. He started leaning forward, his face getting dangerously close to yours and your mind started spinning and you felt a little lightheaded. You barely believed what was happening, it was like a dream. But, then again, if it was a dream, it was certainly one you hoped never to wake up from.
As he got even closer he slowly closed his eyes, and soon thereafter you did the same. Once your eyes were closed, it didn’t take long before you could feel his hot breath on your lips, only reminding you of the close proximity between you. Ignoring the nervosity bubbling in your stomach you as well started leaning forward as a sign to him that you weren’t opposed to what was happening. Not in the least actually. Your lips touched ever so slightly and it almost felt as if electricity was shooting through your entire being at that moment, but nonetheless the moment of bliss had to be cut short as the strong smell of blood entered your nose.
You quickly pulled away from him before the kiss had even been able to become more than a slight peck. Even so, you couldn’t ignore that strong smell. Takuma seemed to have noticed it as well as he reluctantly let go of you. Not that you really wanted to leave at that point, but at the same time you felt you had to go help whoever might have gotten hurt. So deciding that the safety of the injured individual was the most important at that point, you started running. He didn’t follow you, and judging from the look on his face before you left he probably felt rather dejected, so you simply hoped he understood the situation.
The smell led you to the old dormitory that was no longer in use as far as you knew. Making your way toward the door you soon felt an arm grabbing your arm. As you turned around your eyes landed upon Senri who wore a much more serious expression than you were used to from his part. “It’s probably best if you stay out of it. Let dorm president Kuran handle this one” he said rather sternly. You could only assume that he knew more of the situation than you did, but there wasn’t really any use in questioning him about it either.
Not really having anything to answer to him, you only looked down in defeat as a response. As you did, you felt a hand being placed on top of your head, before ruffling your hair. “Go to bed, you look like a wreck” he then said, looking down at you with a crooked smile. You give him a slightly sad smile back before heading off to your room.
~Timeskip~
Laying in your bed you simply stared at the ceiling. One of the many perks with having your own room was that nobody was aware that you had yet to fall asleep, even though it was probably about midday. Normally in situations like these you’d simply pick up a book to calm down and hopefully get some rest, but you couldn’t even focus enough to read.
A couple of hours ago you had been informed that the strong smell of blood had come from a pureblood known as Shizuka Hio. Apparently, she had been disguised as the transfer student Maria Kurenai. She had been killed, and it seemed that the deed had been done by Zero Kiryu, but nothing had been confirmed yet. Honestly though, you couldn’t care less at this point. Occupying your mind was something completely different: Takuma.
You were fairly certain he was thinking about you as well, and thus he was most likely awake. Despite that you simply didn’t have the guts to go see him. After what happened during the ball you hadn’t been able to get him off your mind for even a second and it was driving you crazy. As soon as you closed your eyes his image would appear on your eyelids, so rest was completely out of the question. The scene of you two almost kissing kept on playing on repeat in your head, and the feeling that shot through your body that moment his lips touched yours still lingered every time you thought about it.
Despite that, you did not want to be naive. You were well aware that he most likely didn’t feel the same way that you did. In fact, he probably just got swept away by the moment. You really didn’t want something like this to ruin the friendship you had, so you were a little glad it never got further than it did. Best course of action would be to pretend as if nothing happened, to try to forget it.
Well, that’s what you how you tried to see it. But, deep down you could almost feel how heart ached at the mere thought.
Author's note! Well, well... That happened. I hope nobody got too disappointed by this little turn of events. Either way, this story isn't close to ending any time soon and I've got plans for where it's heading, so don't worry. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this chapter and that you're looking forward to the next one! //Yours truly, Handsomesquid :3
