The person I have a crush on has long dark hair and comical humor. Large amethyst eyes, short eyelashes, and overplucked eyebrows. They are somewhat popular within The Last, but for all the wrong reasons.
When your eyes first land on them, you notice their height. Short. 5'3, the total opposite of my lanky ass who is 5'6, thanks to my no good parents. The second thing you'll notice is their tattoo stamped against their neck. Dark and unforgiving of your wish to appear somewhat normal.
The tattoo symbolizes that they are a Pernal. One of the top Organizations in the world. I've always thought Pernals' were amazing. The way their bodies can regenerate after suffering a devastating accident that results in missing limbs. It’s like watching a reverse flame. The combustion of red and green, creating each layer of bone, muscle, and skin. I saw it once when I was a little girl. A Pernal dashed into one of the great fires of ASK to save a young Glitheren. I will never forget their glowing eyes and smile of happiness.
After that, I never saw one again until it was the last day of The Center. I found myself surrounded by a few of those piece of shit Eaters in the courtyard.
Verses were already gathering around to see what was going on, forming a circle around me and those feeling eating bitches. Ever since Maline and her gang found out that I was a Mixed a few weeks ago during the final Examination, they decided to mess with me.
Called me names, attempt to publically embarrass me, corner me a few times to verbally abuse me. You see, Mixed are highly looked down upon and it was once the law that you couldn’t lay down with someone that wasn’t your own Verse or species. However, the thing about me is that I have a serious anger issue. I was trying to hold it in. Be good. But those Eaters love to feast on high emotion.
Maline's lips unzipped, “Come on! Let’s see those emotions before I kick your ass!”
I could feel my nose flaring, and my blood boiling. My eyes dilated and my body leaped onto Maline. My hand balled up and I allowed the wrath to seep out in between my fingers and onto her face.
Over and over again, I punched her face. Black liquid seeped from her nose and her eyes. Her face began to instantly swell into large knots of gray. Olga and Ethel, two of Maline’s followers, attempted to pull me off but I was like a bull. I chased after them, and picked up Olga’s body and tossed her into the nearest tree.
Ethel turned, trying to flee but I grabbed her by the hair and swung her small fragile Eater body into the main buildings window. Those who were standing around started to scream, panicking that I had gone mad and began to run away except for them.
They stopped in the midst of all the chaos and gave a smile before turning around, giving me a glimpse of the dagger wrapped with two snakes tattoo and walking away. I was restrained by the Faculty of The Center and shot with a tranquilizer.
The next thing I knew, I was sitting at a table in front of an older man in a cold room. My arms and legs were restrained to a chair. He slammed my file in front of me and spoke with an Ett accent,
“I’m glad to see the tranquilizer wore off.”
"Where am I?" I croaked.
"That is not important right now. You gave everyone a scare earlier today! You attacked several Verses on Center grounds.” He told.
"Yep, that I did." I mutually agreed. There’s no point in lying when everyone saw you do something wrong.
"You have quite the anger problem I see. You were kicked out of all the Emergence programs in all of Heinsworth as a child. It must've been hard for your parents." He expressed.
"No, it wasn’t. They handled it quite well." I replied.
"Truly they need a round of applause for not shipping you off to the Void." He sneered.
"Ha-ha the Void!" I laughed and he frowned, "I broke out of that shit hole of a place."
"You what?!" He beckoned.
"It wasn’t my style nor my taste." I smiled.
"You’re lying. That wasn’t in your file!” His eyes peered down at the file.
"Of course it wasn’t. How embarrassing would it be if a nine-year-old broke out of one of the most infamous places of all? You should be smarter than that!" I spoke.
"That’s ridiculous!" He stood up in the chair and stared down at me.
"Why is that? Are you from there?" I questioned.
"No, I am not." He sat back down and exhaled, "But it doesn’t matter about The Void." He said but his face said otherwise.
It spoke of concern, anguish, and confusion. Anyone would have that kind of expression if they truly knew what when on in there.
"I’m from The Last. Today was your final day at The Center." He continued.
"Oh shit." I spat.
"Don’t worry. I didn’t come to tell you that we're not expecting you. I saw your performance from the top floor window and thought it was formidable. I’m here to invite you to The Last; Ace."
My eyes opened widened. The Last "Ace" is for those who are powerful. I was always expected to land myself in Spades, maybe Diamonds. Something normal, maybe even less than that. But Ace? That was too out of my league.
"Look, I’m a Mixed." I sighed.
"We know that. That is why we have come to ask you. Not only are you strong but you are a Mixed. It tells everyone that Mixed isn't as weak as they assume to be." He stated.
"It’s still going to be a no from me. I’m not that powerful." I said.
"Alright fine." He reached into his pocket and set down a card.
"This is my name and number." He slid it over to me, "When your day comes to enter into The Last and the class they put you in, isn’t what you want, call me. And I will have you placed into Ace immediately."
He lifted from his seat and left the room. My eyes stared down at the card, burning it into my memory until someone came in to release me.
