In her lavender unicorn pajamas, she trotted down the hall back into to her apartment. Coming into the apartment, the first thing she saw as usual was the enormous vent over her bed. She screamed, dropping her towel. For a second, Yumi thought she saw a man's face in vent, smiling and staring at her.
-"That wasn’t real. I just imagined it because of that story." She breathed in and out multiple times to calm herself, then went to bed.
The next day, feeling a bit tipsy, Yumi came back to her apartment from a late night party. She fumbled with her lavender unicorn pyjamas
Chapter II
-"Ugh …" She groaned, clutching her stomach. -"I had a bit too much." Yumi dragged her legs across the floor and collapsed onto the bed. "Screech" - a strange sound coming from the vent startled her. She jumped as if on a spring, and peered into the depths of the scary vent. The same creepy eyes and disturbing smile appeared in the darkness. Yumi lunged away, screaming. She ran out of her apartment, waking all the other residents of the building. Upon locking herself in the local bathroom, she fumbled with her phone. When the police arrived, she explained the situation, still in shock.
-"There was someone looking at me! Arrest him now! I can't live with him looking at me all the time!"
-"Ma'am, please calm down!" A flustered man in a dark blue uniform and sunglasses said. He stood and talked boldly, as if he were a celebrity: one hand on his hip, the other continuously running through his greasy hair. His right leg firmly on the ground whilst the left stretched out in front of him, as if showing it off.
The officer shone a light far into the vent, but didn’t find any traces whatsoever of anybody living there. After only about an hour, finding nothing, the police left the poor girl.
-"I'm sorry miss, but I couldn't find anything. Are you sure you saw someone in there?"
-"I'm sure, officer! Please believe me!" Yumi pleaded.
-"Well, I don’t know what I can do about it. There's no one there. Call us in the morning if anything happens, alright?"
-"Okay…" Yumi agreed. The policeman left, running a hand once more through his smooth, flowy hair. He looked at her pyjamas.
-"Nice pj's by the way. Love the unicorns, but lavender just isn't your color. Maybe try pink?" He turned and left, humming merrily as ever.
