Getting to Work

Getting to Work

Jul 30, 2017

When we reached outside, a driver was waiting next to this really nice sports car. Since I'm not a car fan, I don't really know, besides the rim looks shiny and had a unique style, along with the seat cover. They were a crimson red with black outline.

Chai Panit opened the driver's side door and entered the vehicle. He adjusted the rearview mirror and took out this name brand sunglasses. Afterwards, he started his engine while cocking his head to me.

"Why are you still here?" Chai Panit said in this annoying arrogant tone. "I'll see you at the company." He said as he drove off.

As I am watching his car drive off, I get a sudden phone call from his father.

"I wish you all the best. We will pay you-" in the background you can hear the mother saying "-only if she does her jobs that is. I didn't hire her-" then the father cut her off. "Honey, we only wish for our son's safety. If hiring her means that nothing will happen then we ought to be thankful."

"Thank you, and don't worry. I will do everything in my powers to keep him safe. However, I do have a question though."

"Yes? Whatever it may be, if it is something that both us as parents can help, we are willing to," said the father.

I replied, " I can choose whatever method I find useful in the situation to keep him safe, right?"

There was a silence, then a sigh. His father then replied "Yes. If you see it as fitting as can be, we, the parents of Chai Panit and the owners of Jetatikarn Jewlers give you every right."

Feeling relieved, I thanked them and head for my car. On my drive to the company, I received a text from a long-time friend since college. Once I finally arrived at the company (in which had many floors), I made my way through the crowd of cameras and news reporters on the staircase. Still making my way through them I hear questions being thrown left to right. All of the questions care concerned for this Lilly Patikorn person. Once I finally reached the top of the staircase, one reporter asked if Chai Panit and Lilly will be getting married. I slowly made my way inside the company entrance.

There was a person standing behind a podium and addressing most of their answers. "So far, there has been no confirmation yet to their marriage. All we know now, is that the engagement is in the process and when things do settle down we will let you know. Thank you." and he left the podium.

The man started to make his way over to me. When I saw his face, I nearly dropped the things I was carrying.

"Chat?" I said. He looked up and his eyes widen.

"Nam?" He said. He ran up to me and gave me a hug. "How are you? When did you get back? What are you doing here?" This man had about a million questions to ask me.

"I should be asking you those exact same questions. I haven't seen you ever since graduation."

This man is about 5'9". He was one of those popular kids in school, but never really dated anyone. From the looks of things, he was still muscular, and had a really nice fashion sense; however, he doesn't look like a person who wears jewelry. He seems to be carrying a lot of papers/folders.

"I am the spokesperson for the company. My father held this position until recently. He fell ill and took his position. Other than me, what are you doing here?" He said him and I slowly made our way to the elevator.

While waiting I told him. "Starting today, I am Chai Panit's personal secretary." I turned to look at him. He only starred at me like I was some crazy person.

"Nam. I've known Chai for awhile now. Are you sure? Can't you be someone else's instead?" Right as the elevator arrives. I still haven't answered his question, but I press the 10th floor button.

As the elevator door closes and starting to move, I didn't want to make eye contact with him. I just replied, " It's my job. This one is important. Trust me, okay?" This time, I looked at him.

All he did was sigh and nod his head. I know that he will help me in anything that I need. The elevator stops and the door opens. I take a deep breath, as I know, this is going to be my most challenging mission yet.

Sorry if the recent chapters weren't detailed enough. I'm still working on that. Hopefully they are getting more interesting!
