Looking around Aspir could only agree that the Meadow was pleasing to the eyes. The long grass swaying gently in the wind as far as the eye could see. The occasional tree or rock offering shade for the weary player, and the bright sun shining down covering all in its warm embrace. Just out on the edge of view, Aspir could make out lines of trees breaking this idyllic view, a forest of some sorts just waiting to be explored. Truly a paradise for an adventurer.
Despite the magnificence of the Meadow, he couldn't help but feel that it was under-appreciated by the horde of bloodthirsty players charging around seeking fresh prey.
Corpses littered the ground. Limbs torn and thrown astray, blood decorating the lush green in its crimson shade. The horde travelled non-stop. Their feet beating the ground like drums, their breath ragged from the exertion and their minds hell bent on the hunt.
These were beginners.
Despite the danger of the horde, the creatures of the meadows remained oblivious to the danger. Stuck in their pre-coded ways.
Aspir almost felt sorry for them.
Heading towards the northern part of the meadows, closer to the forest he saw in the distance, Aspir hoped that there would be less players there getting in the way.
Passing by he saw smaller and larger hordes, all engrossed in attacking their selected opponents. So far he hadn't seen many players fighting on their own.
It seemed that Bear was correct in saying that armour and weapons were hard to get hold of early game, as most of the players Apsir had seen were either wearing one piece of armour or none at all.
As for weapons, they were pummelling their enemies for a reason as only a very small percentage of the players he could see currently had a weapon.
Luckily he didn't have to worry about his as you couldn't drop any equipment from PKs until level 10. PK standing for Player Killing where a single player or group of players would hunt other players for their equipment and treasure.
Getting closer to the northern edge of the Meadows Aspir noticed the distinct lack of players nearby. Finding himself a spot to set up camp he surveyed his surroundings.
Rather than the open Meadow, closer to the city, he was nearer to the border of the forest. So around him were more trees and bushes obscuring his vision and dotting the landscape.
Though peculiarly there was a shiny spot on the floor a few metres from him. Walking over to it Aspir inspected the odd shine to see that it was a plant basking in the sun.
<You have obtained: White petal sunflower x 1>
<A flower often seen in the meadows, that can only be collected midday. More commonly found in direct sunlight in open grassy areas. Used in many cosmetics for females due to the silky texture it can leave on the skin when processed accordingly.>
<Agriculture + 1xp>
So it seemed that he could level and upgrade his Agriculture skill if he just kept his eyes open for more gathering points. He'd have to collect a few more ingredients so he could start working on alchemy.
Now that he was a good distance from any players eyes Aspir prepared his equipment.
<Equipping set 1>
<Shoddy Iron sword, Basic wooden shield, Apothecary's grime encrusted robe(closed)>
<Attack +3, Defence +7>
The game allowed all players to have 3 pre-registered sets of equipment, that they can change through for different scenarios. However, they could not be changed inside of combat or outside of combat until 30Minutes had passed with no active damage taken.
Looking at himself in the equipment scene Aspir couldn't say that he was particularity impressed. Black hair, pale skin, and emerald eyes, when matched with a robe that hung off his frame didn't go well together. The sword and shield making him look more like a child playing village hero than a keen eyed savvy adventurer.
Hopping in the grass near him was Aspirs first prey. The baby horned rabbit. Its ears twitching as the grass tickled its fur, whiskers scenting around checking for predators and its little furry body trembling as it munched a piece of grass. The stub on its head giving it a cute appearance when combined with its large watery eyes.
<LVL 0: Baby horned rabbit: 20/20 HP>
Aspir attacked. He charged forward, sword and shield poised, ready to become stronger.
Preparing for a strong swing, Aspirs aim was to inflict as much damage as possible with the first attack, as the rabbit wouldn't recognise him as an enemy due to the peaceful setting. His breathing concentrated, he swung his sword.
And missed.
Just as he began to swing his sword down, the rabbit bolted, its furry legs pumping furiously as it bounded away. It stopped away from him, shivering in fear, staring at him with its large watery eyes.
Aspir was confused. Why did the rabbit dodge and why did it seem so scared of him? Only then did he spot the rabbits' eyes, watching him, trying to woo him with their overflowing innocence and cuteness.
The same eyes he had seen on the Doe eyed shrew. The reason that he saw Hod's face up-close for the second time. The reason he was having nightmares of it when sleeping...
.... that rabbit had to die.
Launching himself forward again, Aspir swung his sword hoping to connect, only to miss again, infuriating himself even more. Again and again he attacked but to no avail as the baby rabbit was too small and sprightly to catch.
<Stamina low>
Aspir had over-exerted himself, he could feel his body growing tired as his equipment started to weigh him down. The rabbit still just out of reach was breathing heavily, the chase had tired it out as well. Summoning his last bit of energy Aspir sprang forwards, swearing to himself that he'd make the rabbit pay.
*BAM*
He had punted the baby rabbit.
It spiraled through the air, ears folded back as its body arched and bounced on impact with the ground. Letting out a small squeal of pain, blood drops fell down to the ground displaying the crimson trail left from Aspirs attack.
<LVL 0: Baby horned rabbit: 4/20 HP>
<Status: Crippled>
Aspir pleased with his in-prompt idea, grew closer to his prey. A grin slowly spread across his face as he wondered what to do for revenge on making him feel like a fool.
The rabbit watched as the nightmare grew closer, step by step he flattened the grass and flowers that it called friends. His little heart beating faster and faster, he watched the world go dark, he just wanted to be home in the burrow.
<Baby horned rabbit died from shock>

That was it. All of Aspirs effort for 1 experience point, it almost didn't seem worth it. But everyone has to start somewhere.
Bending down Aspir checked for loot to see that there was none, it hadn't dropped anything, however the small horn nib on its head was faintly glowing.
<You have obtained Baby rabbits horn nib>
<An item easily obtainable from a Baby horned rabbit. It serves very little use for anything. People who are known to have a lot of these are seen as sadistic and cruel due to the fact that they have hunted one of the cutest creatures in the Melis Kingdom>
Playing with the nib in his hand Aspir had a few ideas as to what he could do with it but needed to collect some more first.
And so began a punting spree.
Aspir ran around like a madman, punting baby rabbits left and right. Sometimes they collided with rocks and ended up stunned whilst other times he knocked them into the air and attempt to volley or slash them with his sword and shield. Ever so slowly his robe became saturated with blood.

Collapsed on the ground, Aspirs blood coated figure gasped for breath as he recovered from his short ordeal. He had been caught up in it a bit too much and only now saw the sickening scene he had created.
Small furry figures lay upon meadow his little part of the meadow, showing their poor demises in what he thought were overly dramatic poses. One rabbit even had one paw in front blocking its eyes with the other one over its little heart.
If players saw this then they would think that he was some kind of psychopath.
Though he had gained a tiny bundle of loot, mainly some more small nibs, he also managed to find other plants and materials as he charged around.
<You have obtained Meadow bark>
<known for its coagulant abilities and fragrant scent>
<You have obtained rainbow butterfly>
<A common site seen flying around in peaceful areas. Is strangely intact and died of mysterious causes. When shaken drops rainbow dust from its wings>
Aspir put all the bugs he found down to the robe that he was wearing. He couldn't but think that it was probably best if he moved to another area in case someone did see him here.
Title <Enemy of the doe eyed> has been adjusted.
Curious as to the change Aspir opened his character window.

The only things had that changed were his skills. Sword and shield has slightly risen from his use in combat, whilst his Physique had also increased but he couldn't really feel any difference. Annoyingly meditation hadn't changed at all, and he had completely forgotten about equipment enhancement!
More interesting was the new skill that he gained from upgrading <Enemy of the doe eyed> from minor to minor+.
<Passive skill: Hard eyed>
<You have been recognised as a person who does not feel sentimental values when looking upon a scene of pure cuteness. Your eyes refuse to moisten, they are instead like a desert flat bed unable to let loose even the slightest drop. Can no longer be inflicted with watery eyes.>
It wasn't particularly what he wanted but it was a free skill after all.
Ignoring the forest, Aspir headed further east, following along the edge of the meadow leaving the city further in the distance.
Further south of Aspirs location
A deep rumble issued from the ground, as a small hill of mud slowly pushed its way out of the earth. Two giant ears broke the earth first, both the length of an adults arm and the width of an adults chest. Stretching down they pushed the earth away revealing a larger furry body.
Breaking free from the mound the giant body bounced off, leaving nearby players startled wondering what they had seen. Some took off in pursuit whiles other took pictures and posted them online wanting to gather more follows or information.
They were all headed the same direction. North.
