I held him tighter. "Promise me you won't leave." I whispered. He kissed my forehead. "Only if you do the same." He replied. I rested my head on his chest and held his hand. I filled the empty spaces in between his fingers. "Promise." I said quietly. He nodded his head and gave me a smile. "Good." Adam said. "Now, how about we end our streak of loneliness in our rooms and say hi to our parents?" I asked with a smile. "P.... Parents? I don't have any, remember?" He gave me a sad look and stared at the floor. I held his chin up. "What are you saying? Your parents are my parents." I smiled brightly. Tears swelled in his eyes but I could tell they were filled with joy. He wiped his eyes and held my hand tighter. "Yeah. You're right." We opened the door to see Clovis with his usual cold stare and Lucas who had puffy red eyes and had a large grin in his face. "You guys finally ended our worries!" Lucas exclaimed and gave us a big hug. I looked at Clovis. "You're an idiot, you know that?" He said in a harsh tone. "As if I care, Clovis." I scowled. "You've been like that ever since I locked myself in my room!" Adam's eyes had widened. "He's been like that to you too?" He asked in a surprised tone. Clovis clenched his fists. "Listen here. I don't know how Adam can forgive you even though it was his own brother who had died but let me tell you, I will never forgive you. You were right from the start. You should have died. Not him." I pursed my lips. "....Yeah... I know. Now excuse us.." I pulled Adam along and walked past my brothers. I understand why Clovis hates me. I also have fresh wounds. Clovis has hated me from day one. I'm not related to the Scottinghams. I'm adopted.
