Fated To Be

Prologue 1-2: The Prophecy

Prologue 1-2: The Prophecy

Aug 16, 2017

“When the core elements were first introduced to the residents of Resonare, no new ones were yet known. However, that does not mean that there will never be any others. There will be warnings to signify the emergence of every new element without exception. Before the birth of the new envoy, the mana springs will begin to lose their energy. Those with a connection to the springs will be severely weakened to the point of vulnerability, and some will even lose their abilities completely. At the exact moment the new conduit is to be birthed, a worldwide storm will shake the planet to its core. Once born, the storm will clear, but as the years continue to pass, drastic weather changes will continue to ravage the lands and seas. All manner of bickering will erupt amongst all citizens of the realm during this time. These storms will lessen in intensity with each passing year until the third and final warning comes to pass, which heralds the return of the dragons. Moments after they have made themselves known to the world, the new element within the fated carrier will awaken.

Within this prophecy, however, there is yet another that warrants caution. When the colors of elongated shadows dance in the early night on the whispering winds, and the colors of the early rays thread their fingers through the inky depths scattered with luminous stars commune into one being, the world will reach a crucial plateau. With the successful offspring of a being of darkness and one of light, the very fate of Resonare will be decided, for they shall either bring about the salvation of the planet, or spell its doom.”

After reading the passage, the King lifted his gaze to meet that of his wife, a strange expectation hanging in the air. “Do you realize what this passage entails?”

“Yes, dearest.” The Queen spoke matter-of-factly, waving a hand casually in his direction. “Everyone has heard this prophecy since childhood. I do not understand what it is you wish for me to see.”

With a momentary pause, the King held eye contact with his beloved wife before pulling out a small well-worn journal from a pocket in his robes. “The first known storm that almost destroyed this very palace and ravaged our world occurred 13 years ago. Since then, we have been experiencing intense storms that have progressively become less intense.” He paused once more, shifting his gaze from the journal back to his wife. “Roughly a year before these storms began destroying our lands, the mana springs began to lose their vitality, and they are still draining.” He snapped the journal closed with a single hand before tucking it back into the hidden pocket. “Do you not see what this means, my dear?”

The Queen tilted her head gently to the side, her expression cloudy. “Wait… So, are you saying that all of this is connected to the new convoy?” Her eyes widened ever so slightly. “Does this mean that the new convoy is already an inhabitant of this world?”

The King nodded with a half-smirk. “Yes, my dear. Indeed it does.”

“But then… That must mean...” Her expression, though clouded, grew a bit brighter in excitement. “You have found the first carrier?”

His half-smirk transformed instantly into an ambiguous smile as he moved from behind the bookstand and began walking towards her. “I do believe that I have, and you wouldn’t believe who it is.”

Hello Darlings!
I've been dying to get this up since last week!
However, I would like to thank some good friends of mine. Two of which are present here on Tapas.

Midnight Quill: For helping by being my editor/ghost writer and overall support. Check out her current work: https://tapas.io/series/Rise-of-the-Black-Lightning

Dim Lights: For the beautiful artwork done for the cover photo and also her support in this story's creation. Check out her work: https://tapas.io/series/First-Contact

As for the final friend, I would like to thank him as well since it was also with his help that my ideas got as far as they did. Please do enjoy this chapter as much as we've enjoyed working on this.

With love ~Veri Milon
