“Alright, I guess a story would pass time, who knows when Alpha will be back.” David said as he looked up to the moon. I watched him weakly as he went on. “There’s a good reason why you should be friendly to your neighbor. Before the Dark Age our world Oryran is in now, there was another one several centuries ago. As I remind all of you, every sixth century will have a century of darkness and despair. Meaning it will be made out of death and war fare with no treaty with any nation. Generations living a hell life. Meaning one man to himself. This was one of those ages before our own dark age.
Elves and Fairies were the ones who clashed the most in one decade. The two were and are the complete opposites that fit each other completely-to the point they depend on each other at times. Elves are short, sturdy creatures only the size of my middle finger.”
“But they sure are annoying, I hate even the sight of them.” Cackled a wolf. “They get in your fur and will shave part of your butt off if you mess with them.”
The crowd laughed at the wolf remembering something, he called out on them telling them to shut up.
“Why are you explaining details like this again David?” Called a very young man. Actually younger than me, he looked as if he was fourteen. He had jet black curly hair with a silver pendent of a mermaid. He was dark chocolate color and it was hard to see him that late at night, the only thing that showed his facial expressions was the fire.
David went on, crossing his legs over each other. “The human girl doesn’t know much I don’t believe. You can see it in her eyes she has many questions.”
“They don’t deserve to be answered.” Ulding barked. “She can die now please.”
I saw Ulding with the other wolves over a thicket of bushes, sitting and seemingly secretly listening. David looked at him and shook off his comment as if it wasn’t important. “Now, as I was saying elves were tiny little guys that were mighty in huge forces. Thousands can make a country and it’s remarkable how vicious they can be-like bumble bees.
The fairies are sky dwellers and scholars awhile the elves were woodland tribes who took whatever they wanted with very little common sense. With political debates to very different opinions they stayed away from each other, holding grudges that sometimes turned bloody.
One day, a small elf was on a war conquest to actually take more land from a fairy lord, since the elves were expanding. Well, the elves outnumbered were returning home defeated, including the small elf named Tyron. Tyron was very injured and lagged behind from the others who did not notice Tyron was left behind, since it was a bloody fight and most did not survive and those who did, couldn’t bared to see who did live and was walking amongst them.
Tyron lost so much blood he fell exhausted on the side of the road, very hungry and dehydrated. Two people passed him. The first was a centaur with his hooves clomping on the ground. He looked at the elf feeling sorry for him.
The second was a dwarf, who only shook his head in deep sorrow and pity. He said carefully to Tyron that he should have not ever challenged the fairies or their temper-“
“There was a third one right???” The blonde hair girl blurted out. “He was the good guy, a fairy!”
David smiled patiently. “You never let me finish do you Sarah?”
“I’m sorry, you can finish.” Sarah said looking down almost looking like her face was turning a little red.
David continued and as he did I grew angry. My father told me it was good to be bold and express your feelings but now I see that’s only on occasions. I was afraid of them and didn’t understand how they could watch me be beaten, give me water then all gather around for a story. Even Louis and Travis intently listened to the story, it was almost like I was irrelevant. I felt the pain not calming down and I cried quietly.
David’s voice was soothing and relaxing which is why I guessed every one like him telling the parables. I listened closely. “Yes and he was a fairy, but just a servant to his lord. He was running an errand and before he took flight to make faster time, he saw something that was the size of his middle finger. He felt bitter sadness but joyfulness seeing the little elf was still alive. Cullen had a loving heart and took the elf in his hand.
He did not run this important errand but nursed Tyron to health hiding him in a tea kettle whenever someone came by. His coworkers and even his Lord mocked him saying how lazy he was. How he was not keeping up his studies or chores, but Cullen couldn’t. He wanted to make sure Tyron was healing and safe. If he was caught with Tyron, both of them could be killed. He sacrificed his life for another and when Tyron was healed Cullen personally flew him home.
It was a few years later when Tyron was promoted commander of the elf army of his nation. Another argumentive war broke out with the fairies about some foreign policy law, Cullen from the fight he was forced into, was injured clinically.
When Tyron saw him, he felt his heart jump out knowing he had to repay Cullen. Cullen’s actions Tyron said had made him a better elf and pushed himself further in life until he became commanding of a whole army! Cullen also with his act of kindness changed Tyron’s heart. Who helped Cullen not out of pity but simply caring about one another.
Cullen was able to be healed although it took a whole army to help. But the two became best friends and actually, ironically, healed the disputes between both nations.” David said finishing. His words did not sound like it was a fairy tale or some sugar coating.
It dawned me there was more to the world and it was getting a lot bigger the farther I left my home and family.’**
