I woke up late, three days after seeing Gerome. I heard a cackle of thunder which made me sit up straight in my bed. I threw my covers off breathing heavily, almost mistaking the thunder as a howl. I did that a lot especially at night when I was dozing off in my rocking chair. For the first time in months I was able to sleep at night. I stayed up now all the time writing my experience, I fed myself better so I could have the energy to write but I lost sleep since I slept most of the day. So my body so exhausted has been forcing me to sleep at night.
I got up shivering, feeling there were teeth biting at my ankles again. I looked at my bed as if seeing if someone was sleeping with me. I got so scared I turned on my lamp…nothing was there. I was safe in my room not a tepee full of monsters. They were monsters right? What they did only monsters could do.
I left my light on as I went to my curtain. My freckled hands went to grab the curtain as I peeked outside. Lighting struck through the starless sky, thunder rolled again with rain beginning to patter on the roof. The sound was relaxing and my sleepy eyes looked for a moon, a terrible habit I was drawn too.
I looked at the moon in fear, the shape of it depended on my anxiety that day. Full moon, it made sense of the random panic attacks. Tears filled my eyes seeing how the moon was big, piercing through the sky, the light shining down destiny it seemed.
My hand pressed the glass window feeling the coolness of the air seeping through my room. This was the time of the month werewolves, were truly wolves. I couldn’t sleep at that thought and quickly ushered myself to my desk to right. But I pulled back my curtains first, all the way, I wanted to look at this dangerous moon as I wrote tonight.
