Everyone around me was dressed poorly, covered in sweat and dirt, trying hard to not draw attention to themselves. From their standard, I dressed better than them... Which was poorly from a wealthy person's point of view, just a plain red shirt and ripped black jeans. And their eyes really didn't bother me.
Walking into the 'mall', everyone's eyes were nervously darting around. Looking for a suspicious person. I, of course, did the same. When the store clerks saw how I was dressed they quickly ran forward. The people around stared, they saw my Glock 17 nicely presented on my waist they quickly looked away.
That didn't bother me, my best friend/boyfriend, Luis, had proposed to me at a government approved Asian art festival. His proposal was, pretty much the art festival. His whole family worked for the government, having ties with the president (aka, the dictator). They could do anything.
Luis was a naive rich boy, who could take anything he wanted. Including my heart.
...
In year 2071, I was born into an orphanage. In a government baby factory.
With all the wars going on around the globe, the government was running out of fresh soldiers to send to their death. They offered for any young women ages 18- 40 who was healthy to be incubators for the 'new generation'. They offered housing and meals to those who signed up. The population that was decreasing suddenly soared after the first baby factory was made in 2065.
You're probably wondering where the government got all the little swimmers. Well, whenever a man or woman turned sixteen their names would be placed into a draft. When a man was chosen they had the right to choose an easier position in the army, for that they had to pass a physical examination. If they were chosen all they had to do was give some of their little swimmers away.
Of course the government wasn't evil, so any man who happened to pass this test could choose how many times the government could use their little swimmers. They also had the right, if they lived long enough, to meet their offspring.
My father was obviously one of them, he passed the physical examination with flying colors. He was drafted at 21 and his family background was okay, so he was allowed to choose the smallest amount of offspring, two. He was also allowed to choose the girl who would be impregnated by his swimmers. The girl happened to be his girlfriend, who came from a plain background. She carried my brother, then me.
She died during my birth.
My brother and I were only a year apart. We stayed at the orphanage because my father's family refused to acknowledge us because we forced by the government. My mother's side didn't have enough resources to pay for both of us.
2083, my father was enraged when he came back unharmed and learned his family refused to take us. He came to orphanage and took us away.
What he didn't know was that orphanage had raised us as soldiers. We were to be obedient, quiet, and always fulfill our orders.
He soon learned what the government had done to us. We didn't act like normal twelve and thirteen year old. We had done everything he asked, even the stuff he would never do. We never asked questions. He was angry about the governments actions.
He went directly to the national army head quarters and filed a complaint. The government took his complaint very seriously. He was a war hero to the people. They didn't want people to learn about what they were doing to the children. The government gave my father hush money, which he took because his family turned his back to him and his two children.
2085, my brother and I got a government funded scholarship to attend a prestigious academy. My father was happy and sent us to the boarding school. He then got a job offer to train the new recruits in the army. He agreed.
The school we went to were for the government and military officials children.
That's were I met Luis.
