I sat up in my bed panting. We had moved London, England. I was eleven now. I was in 5th grade now. My mother had told me after my brother disappeared about what we really were. That I would be going to a wizarding school this year. I had been sent a supplies list and a letter in the mail. My mother had sent me with my Aunt Susan, a witch like my mother who had gone to Hogwarts. She told me then entire time about how amazing it was and how great things were.
“Oh Selene, beautiful little Selene Circe Endicott! My darling older sister’s one and only daughter!” gasped my aunt excitedly. I groaned and hugged myself. “Auntie, please don’t say my full name so loudly…” I groaned. My mother had studied Greek mythology and was a huge fan. She had even named my brother Hades Apollo Endicott. My aunt giggled, grasping my hand. “I wonder what house you’re going to end up in!” she cooed. “My son will be going there as a first year as well! We Endicott’s are known for ending up in Ravenclaw! However… my wife’s family is known for ending up in the Hufflepuff house…” Susan trailed off and began to ramble about family heritage. I stared at my aunt. I was envious of her beauty and of my mother’s side of the family. Their beauty was amazing. I was the daughter of another marriage my father had. My mother had divorced him and married a member of the Malfoy family for a short while. Then she divorced him with no children that had come out and remarried my father. I knew that name. It had been drilled into my head as some of the first things my mother taught me about were the great wizarding wars. The Malfoy name was a great one that my mother had rambled about. How she had known Scorpius Malfoy, the grandson of the Death Eater Lucius during her wizarding years. She didn’t speak too much about it but Susan bragged endlessly about how she had known him and been a close friend. I sighed as we walked through the cobblestone streets, we had gathered most of what I needed but just not all of it yet.
My owl I had named Silver. My robes. Most of my books. My wand. We just needed the last few of my books. As we walked Susan continued to ramble and go on and on about her memories at Hogwarts. I paused. I saw a mess of familiar mess of curls. Pitch black curls. “Hades stop running off-” My heart stopped. My eyes widened. My aunt looked back at me as I froze in my steps. “Selene? Come on don’t block up the path we need-” I ignored her words and ran in the direction of the black curls. He disappeared. He was swept away in the people. “HADES! HADES!” I cried out looking around. I looked down the path, a man holding my brother’s hand lead him into an alley… it couldn’t be anyone else but my brother. I raced down to the alley and through it. “SELENE!” My aunt called. I ignored her.
My heart was pounding. I looked around and dashed through the alley dropping my books and materials behind me as I stumbled through and errupted on the other side of the alley. “HADES!” I cried out, hot tears stinging my eyes. I panted frantically and looked around spotting him. He was older. He was no longer that little tiny pudgy boy I knew. He had matured. He was older. I ran after him. “HADES!” I called, I could feel people’s eyes on me. Watching me as if I were insane.
I grew dizzy…
The world was spinning… I was numb… I was still running. I was getting closer to my brother. My aunt’s voice was muffled behind me as if I were underwater. I kept running. I couldn’t stop. I cashed after Hades and this man who held his hand for only the dead know how long. Finally they stopped, my lungs ached and my steps slowed. Hades turned and our eyes met. The same innocent blue eyes my mother had. I reached out and collapsed as a crowd swarmed me and my vision vanished.
