James eyes flashed awake. His alarm had just gone off. No more leisurely stretches or quiet moments, James was all business now. His alarm was set to the same time, of course. Somethings don't change. However, the alarm was for a completely different purpose now. It was to wake James up to get to work early.
Yet James took his time, as he always had, to brush his teeth and eat breakfast in the comfort of his apartment. He still desired to enjoy his moments to himself.
Alas, moments must always end, and James was soon out the door, down the stairs, and out into the open air. Of course, the bus wasn’t at the stop where it was scheduled. It hadn’t been on time all month. James just hoped that it was late instead of early. He couldn’t afford to miss his important task.
The bus leisurely rolled around the corner. Now James could see why it was late, the bus was barely moving. It shuddered to a stop three feet away from the bus stop, but it didn’t matter, it had arrived.
James was repulsed.
All of this time waiting and the bus is moving at a snail's pace. Maybe I’ll just walk there.
And that’s exactly what he did. He knew that even trying to walk through the crowded sidewalk would cause him nothing but pain, misery, and a few unnecessary bruises, so instead he decided to cut through a nearby city park.
