We decide to walk back to the coffee shop to go our separate ways. On our way back we talk a little more and he tells me that he recently moved back here, after moving away in his childhood. "I still have something to do here," he says with a nostalgic smile. I look at him confused but then playfully say, "sounds pretty corny, huh?" he laughs at that. "I guess it does."
Shortly after we arrive at the coffee shop. “Thanks for showing me the tree and the ice creme parlor, I really enjoyed it,” I state as we come in sight of our departure. “No problem, I was my pleasure!” he says with his distinctive smile, eyes closed to enhance the whole atmosphere.
“So,” he begins talking again, just as I was thinking about to leave, “can I assume that we're friends now?” he asks a little worried. My eyes widen before I let out a small laugh at his question. “Ehh? I-I'm sorry, of c-course it's still too early for tha-” “Of course we're friends, idiot!” I explain to him, still smiling at his embarrassment.
If he had any idea I stalked him the last four days... I wonder how he'll react? Anyway, he's just too cute for his own good. “Were you really worried about that?” I ask chuckling. Oliver has a dumbfounded expression as he just nods slightly to then avoid my gaze, somewhat blushing. He really is an idiot. It's like our roles had been swapped.
“So, is it ok for me to ask for your number?” his smile kind of back in place, but sill scratching his nape. This time it's my turn to blush and look at him like I've seen a ghost. “I thought you wanted to be my friend, not my boyfriend!” I exclaim, but then extend my arm with a smile, shaking my head in disbelieve.
“What? Friends have each others numbers! There's nothing wrong with that,” he snaps back in a childish manner, handing me his phone. “Yeah sure, friends usually aren't that nervous,” I smirk at him, eyebrows raised, eyelids low. You could clearly see his reaction. “Was not!” he almost shouts, snatching his phone back out of my hands, catching us a few glances from passerby's.
“Is that all? You're kinda embarrassing me here,” I try to talk as quiet as possible. And I thought I'm awkward! “Oh, yeah, sorry!” he quickly answers, then pointing roughly into the direction of my university. “I have to go this way then, see you!” He says goodbye with his common stance and face, waving at me, turning around to leave.
“Wait!” Ah. I said it. Wow that sounded reaaaaally needy. Damn. Hold on, what was I trying to say again? Oh, yeah. “Hm?” he turns around again, looking at me, his eyebrows raised a little. You could see his blue eyes better his way, ahhhhhh- OK STOP. NOT the right time. We already have random strangers looking at us, again.
“Oh, uhm, what about your number?” I ask nervously. He smiles, teeth showing. “Don't worry, I'll call you first!” And with that he was gone. Well, not quite, he walked away, but for me it seemed like it. “I guess,” I say to myself as a sigh, walking home.
Literally 2 seconds after I get into my room and lay on my bed, my phone rings. I think I never accepted a call that fast. “Wow, that was fast. Are you ok Diana?” I groan. “This is not a good time Hannah.” I could hear the confusion in her voice. “Huh? Why not? Something happened with Oliver?” she didn't sound confused in that part. “I gave him my number.”
Silence.
“He asked for it and said he'll call me first.”
Silence.
“He's not my boyfriend Hannah shut up.”
