Keeping Kids In Sport

Crimson Color Cinema

Crimson Color Cinema

Sep 08, 2017

A good time to change the subject. “A-anyway Oliver,” I start, catching both of their attention, “what are you doing here anyway? I know the seat next to me was empty when the movie started. And I would have never imagined that you want to watch... these kind of movies,” I finish, not sure if the awkwardness would be any less because of that.

“Ahhh, yeah, that,” Oliver says with a nervous laugh, scratching his nape, “I actually wanted to speak with you about that.” He quickly glances at Hannah, who makes a little jump before smiling like a sly fox, “oh, would you look at the time! The movie is over too! I have to go now, have fun!” as she skips to the exit she winks at the both of us, making us totally not blush in embarrassment.

“S-so? What did you wanna talk about?” I mumble, fiddling with my fingers and keeping my eyes glued to the ground. “Well, to be honest, the reason I texted you instead of calling, and came late to the movie is...” he pauses averting his gaze, scratching his head. “Is?” I practically beg to continue. If it's what I think it is, then-

“I was nervous and I wanted to ask you to come watch that movie in the cinema,” he blurt out. Score. But I'm still surprised and flaming hot, aren't cinema's supposed to be cold? I gape like a fish, trying to form fitting words in this situation, but guess it's just not meant to be.

“I just couldn't bring up enough courage to call you, for some reason,” he laughs lightly at that. “And because I didn't just want to ask 'hey, do you want to watch a movie with me?' I first texted the things you already read as some kind of lead-in, but you just read it and didn't answer, so I didn't wrote further and got super insecure,” he confesses, leaving me more speechless than I already am.

“After thinking a little bit I decided to go anyway, that's why I was late. But I didn't notice you until the end, when the lights came back on and you started to hold my hand!” he laughs wholehearted, turning me red. “I was really embarrassed too, did I hide it good enough for your friend?” he says while wiping away his tears.

I look at him with a mixture of annoyance and anger, although it doesn't have its full effect with my state of face-color. “So... did I do something wrong?” catching my attention with wide eyes. Wow, he actually looks guilty somehow... does he really think he upset me? Did something wrong? And what the hell is up with these puppy eyes now?!

“Come on Oliver, what are you thinking? You did nothing wrong,” I say waving my hand for emphasis. “It's kinda the same for me, to be honest. I didn't know what to respond and chickened out, if you can call it that. Even Hannah lectured me...” I let out a short chuckle. “I was... really happy when you wrote me,” I smile genuinely, eyes half closed.

Oliver looks surprised hearing that from me, blushing on his own. At least you're not pouting anymore, handsome idiot! “I'm glad,” he speaks quietly. “I'm really glad I met someone like you, Diana.” he adds, taking my hand, giving me a smile that could melt my heart easily.

While everything around us is silent, as I'm only able to hear my heartbeat, he brings his face closer to mine, slowly shutting his eyes, moving one hand to my cheek, cupping my face, the other still holding onto my hand, fingers intertwined.
