Once again Seraphina found herself alone, in the dark void she knew all too well. There were no cracks, like there would be in a cave, there were no source of light anywhere. Everything was just pitch black. But, once when Seraphina opened her pale green eyes they turned golden. Blinking once or twice, Seraphina squeezed her eyes shut and shook her head before noticing that the same yellow hue surrounded her body. Something heavy stuck to her back, but the strange part of it was the fact she felt as if she was used to having the strange weight. It brought Seraphina conflicting feelings.
Her eyes drifted off to the side and her fingers went to trace her lips. At the moment everything felt off about her body. This dream was far different from her last one. It felt as if her body wasn't even hers, like it was someone else's and that she was just borrowing it for a while. Do normal people feel like that as well? Perhaps she'll ask Luz about it when she wakes up. Waking up....Seraphina's eyes narrowed a bit as she remembered what had happened. At the moment, though, everything was a giant blur. She could only remember certain things, like the demons and her Dike. Dike....that name meant something, something important.
Changing her thoughts to something else Seraphina started to wonder if there was more to this place than just darkness. Taking one small step, caused something heavy to form around her ankle. Turning her gaze downwards, Seraphina saw a cuff form around her ankle and a chain leading all the way behind her. She couldn't see the ending to the chain. Her lips curving downwards a bit, Seraphina tried to take another step but as she did the chain straightened and pulled her foot backwards. She couldn't move.
Bending down her pale fingers picked up the chain, which was now loose. It seemed like it only pulled when she tried to walk. Clicking her teeth she dropped the chain and when it touched the ground there was a sound and it bounced a bit before settling down, cling, cling, cling. As soon as the sounds stopped the entire floor lit up. little ripples formed around her bare feet and Seraphina could see her own reflection now.
Bending down and sitting on her knees, Seraphina stared at her strange appearance. It was like she was staring at herself, but at the same time it wasn't even her. Her eyes had changed color and her blonde hair had turned silver. White wings sat on her back, tucked away, and her clothes...Her close consisted of a white tunic with a breast plate, shoulder armor and metallic heels. It was as if she was this strange goddess warrior, like she was a Valkyrie. Staring at her reflection she seemed so beautiful and graceful, unlike her she viewed herself in real life.
Reaching down she lightly touched the water and the image rippled away. For a long moment nothing appeared in the water. It felt like it was trying to figure what it wanted to show Seraphina. So, Seraphina sat there for a long time staring at nothing. She was just waiting to wake up now. Out of all her strange, occurring dreams, this was the strangest and the newest. Since she couldn't move, all she could do was wait until this was over.
Finally, when she was about to give up and force herself awake, the water around her began to glow. The glow shifted from golden, to neon, to indigo, and then to a faint pink. When the glow started to fade an image started to form. Seraphina stared at it with interest, something new.
The image was beautiful. A palace, what it appears to be inside a palace in fact. Pillars stretching from the floor to the, what seemed like, and endless ceiling. The floor appeared to marble and the coloring of the walls and pillars seemed to a pearl color. The floor had this beautiful crack design and the outlining of the cracks was a golden color. To the right was a humongous door that was ivory and golden. To left were three steps, the same color as the floor, that lead up to a huge curtain that draped down. You could see a shadow of a chair and the figure of someone sitting in it.
Standing at the three steps was a woman. Half of her face was covered in shadow, her body was built beautifully and she wore the same type of clothing Seraphina was wearing right now just more elegant. The woman's long silver hair stood up and seemed to a form a crown that circled around her halo. On her back were six beautiful, pure white wings that stood open. Her entire aura had grace and pride written all through it. There was a smile on her beautiful red lips and in her hands was a spear that seemed all too familiar.
Behind her, knelt to their knees, were eight other angels. They each looked different from one another, and their face were hidden in shadow. They only had one pair of wings, unlike the woman standing in front of them. Each one of the angels were beautiful and elegant, even the males.
All nine of the angels stood facing the covered throne, the six-winged angel and her right hand over her chest, along with the other eight. They all had proud smiles on their lips. Seraphina wondered why. They all looked like they were about to do something very important or that they were about to receive something important. Her eyes shifted from the angels and onto the mysterious figure sitting a pun the throne, hiding in the shadows. Just staring made Seraphia's heart pound. She felt like she knew this person. This person was very important.
Moving her hand, it slowly ran along the image of the stranger cast in shadow. More ripples formed and suddenly the image changed. It was now the scene she was used to seeing. Earth cast in darkness. The sky was blood red, there was a solar eclipse up high in the sky. All through out that blood-red sky were black colored creatures with wings. The ground was cast in fire and blood. Bodies laid on the ground, lifeless, ashes and demons covered everything else and all life seemed to die by there touch. The angels Seraphina had seen before were fighting up in the sky and down on the ground, but there were only seven. A gate, tall and menacing, stood in the center of it all. The doors were staring to open. In front of the gate, up in the sky, were two angels. The beautiful six-winged one and one with darkened skin and wings, his face hidden from her sight. The two were battling furiously, the darkened angel fought with anger and hate with every swing of his blade while the six-winged one seemed saddened. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she fought him.
She knew this scene all too well. It was the same scene the pool had always shown her. The battle of the gate, the one that shook the entire world. The longer Seraphina stared at the scene, the more her heart started to ache. Soon, tears rolled down her cheeks and her hands trembled. She wanted to curl up and cry. She wanted to cry a river of tears, just like lost little Alice. Her hands clenched into fists and snot ran down from her nose. She sniffled before wiping her face with her arm. I don't want to see this anymore, her thoughts echoed throughout the empty void.
Just as she wished, the scene faded away and the pool didn't show Seraphina anything else. She was now left there, alone and chained with a saddened heart and a confused mind. What was happening to her? Was she loosing it? Here she was, trapped and lost in her own dream, her own mind and she didn't know what to do. How does one break away from their own dream, aside from waking up? Seraphina didn't know. She felt so lost and confused. Her heart was in pain and all she could do was cry.
As her tears hit the pool, it started rippling again. This time the ripple grew and grew. All around her now was this huge rippling effect and it felt as if it was a beat to a song. A very sad song. Seraphina shifted from sitting on her knees to sitting on her bum and she held her legs close to her chest. Her mouth opened and words started spilling out, words that went to the sound of her tears hitting the water. This was the song that woman was singing, wasn't it? Seraphina thought as she closed her eyes. She wondered why it was so familiar, why everything that was happening lately was familiar.
As she sang her fingers started to sway in the air. With each swish, each stroke, a golden line followed along with her fingers. The lines soon turned into symbols and in a full circle, symbols were made in the air and they glowed brightly once the circle was complete. Seraphina's voice started to fade when she realize what she had done. She stared at the circle for a long while, trying to make out what she wrote said. They symbols rotated clockwise slowly and Seraphina raised her hand to touch the middle, she didn't know why she did. In fact, she didn't know why she did anything here in the dream realm. Her body just moved on it's own.
The middle of the circle felt warm and that warmth shot through her entire body. A shattering noise reached her ears and her eyes shot down to her ankle. The cuff and chain was gone, in it's place was a red mark around her ankle and glass. Standing up, her eyes went back to the circle. This time instead of her finger, she pressed her entire hand against the middle of the circle. The symbols's glow brightened and brightened until it became blinding to even look at. Pulling her hand away, Seraphina covered her eyes until the bright light faded. Rubbing her eyes, and getting them to focus again, she looked back at the circle of symbols to find it replaced with a wooden door.
Seraphina ran her hand along the wood, she ran it all the way down to the warm nob. Slowly she turned it, and the door opened inward. Does this mean she could leave? This never happened before. Looking back being her, she realized the wings had disappeared. She felt like herself again. Taking a deep breath and took one last look around the dark void and the mystical pool, expecting to never see this place again, before she walked through the door.
A gasp! Seraphina's eyes opened and her heart raced. Her widened eyes darted around the unfamiliar room. Strange wires were hooked to her arm, she was laying in a bed and her clothes had changed. Her head was aching as well as the rest of her body. Slowly she started to calm down, especially when she realized Luz was sitting next to her, a worried expression on her face. "Where....where am I?"
