It was a bright day, clear skies no clouds to be seen, at a pub run by an old man, a woman carrying a baby stumbled in with bruises all over her.
“Will you take care of my child” she asked one of the regulars at the pub with six empty bottles in front of him, he was clearly drunk.
“Why should I do that!” the man yells as he moved his hand to slap her.
The old man caught the man’s hand “What do you think you're doing, in my bar” he said firmly grasping the man's hand.
“Shut up old man! I have my rights!”
Minutes later the drunken man is thrown out of the pub with all his stuff piled on him. “I’m sorry you had to see that, people usually aren't that rude here. Though they are often drunk as hell.” said the old man trying to make the woman feel better as he pulled up two glasses and a bottle of milk.
“No, no it's fine, I'm used to it by now, but I appreciate it.” She said with a small smile, feeding the child the milk. Now that the old man had a closer look at her he noticed that she was wearing a white cloak covered in dirt, holes and blood. She pulled her hood down, as her shoulder long black hair came flooding out of the hood.
“My god, are you okay? You're covered in blood!”
“I'm fine, I got these awhile ago, but I'm more worried about my child.” She stated as she brushed the cloth over their face as she fed them.
“Why are you trying to give your child away then?”
“It's not safe where I'm from, people are after me and I can't afford to have them take my child away, so I need to find someone willing to take care of them.”
“Then, why not me?” The old man said as he poured her some water.
“No I can't, you've got enough things to worry about running this bar.”
“It won't cause me that many problems, I swear I'll protect them for as long as I have left. Plus I doubt anyone else would voluntarily take your child and keep them safe.”
“Well… Alright then.” She said as she handed him the child and started to head out.
“What's the child's name?”
“Ravin, it'll be Ravin. Ravin Lycon” She then exited out the door. The sound of men could be heard faintly, and he saw her jolt away from the pub before the door had closed.
