Briceson finished eating,
Along with myself
And begin to do the dishes
So they don’t sit in the sink.
I watched him
Silently enjoying his company
Before he leaves for work
And I leave for school.
I closed my eyes,
Dreaming of a world
Where The Other Me
Doesn’t exist.
It is peaceful,
Luxurious,
Infinite.
Suddenly I feel a hand,
Slide against my cheek
And I jump back
In the chair.
Briceson is looking at me.
Wearing a concerned face,
“Are you feeling alright?”
I nodded my head, “Yes. Just a bit sleepy still.”
He takes the reply and steps back, “Alright. I’m going to head to work. Are you sure you don’t want me to drop you off at school?”
“I'm sure! Its only down the street anyway!” I said.
“It’s a couple of blocks away and it takes you fifteen minutes to get there.” He corrected.
“See? It’s not that bad! Plus it gives me time to myself before school.” I grinned and he laughed.
“Fine. But make sure to text me when you get there!” He stepped out of the kitchen.
I bellowed, “Yes sir!”
I could hear him,
Shuffling around upstairs
And I laid my head
On the table,
Not fully prepared to go to school.
His body,
Raced down stairs
And I could hear him
Land in the foyer,
Strolling towards the door.
“Love you.” He whispered,
Opening the front door.
The door closed behind him.
I smiled,
My heart
Filling up
With the warmth
Of happiness.
Now, I am ready.
