“Hello!” I called out to Tay, the Greenhouse seeming to have gotten bigger since four years ago.
“Who are you!” An Elf hissed from my right, holding a gardening fork in her right hand ready to strike, while her left weaved a spell of some sort…
“I’m Celli, you must be Cetcily. Theo must have told you of us before? He wrote to us telling us of the Elf pregnant with a Halfling.” I watched as Cetcily bared her teeth… Feral like a fox… Holding out my hands to show her I’m unarmed, it seemed she was almost finish with the spell.
“You’re a Gypsie?” She must have noticed the mark on my hand, nodding I kept my eyes on her spell weaving hand… I felt the Magic die out before I even noticed her hand staying.
“What Magic was that?” I asked more out of curiosity than surprise, knowing that it wasn’t Elemental, was it ancient?
“A Fire spell…” She was acting cautious and rightfully so; Elves outside of a select few were forbidden to use magic, doing so was punishable by death!
“Nope, not fire, would know if was! My husband’s a Fire Castor. He's waiting outside, tending to your baby gi…” Her eyes flared and she pushed me aside before I could even reassure her!
“Wait!” I tried to stop her, but she was already re-casting her spell as soon as she was outside!
“Heath!” I heard her callout and I could help but laugh when I saw the spirit standing here on land…
“Heath!” I call out, the giant lion beast shrinking in size of that of a cat as as he heard my voice and saw Segre. His radiant crimson flames now wisps of gentle Faux Fire, a fire that didn’t burn unless the spirit wanted it to, and even then it was just really hot, not actual fire!
This was his true form a mere house cat spirit who had very week Faux Fire that at his command could create illusions. Heath purred and rubbed himself against Segre, wrapping his tail around him before his image vanished into thin air!
“Heath?” The elf seemed confused, scared mostly! Her spell backfired, clearly… or perhaps it didn’t, was it Summoning Magic? Could she really summon spirits Across the Plains?
“You must be Cetcily?” Segre just looked between me and the mother of the baby he was holding, his Magic surrounding her like a blanket.
“What are you doing to her? Let her go! Give her back!” Cetcily yelled, her motherly instincts to protect was admirable. As she allowed her Aura to flare around her casting her in a gentle opalescent array of colors.
“I can’t… Her Aether is in disarray.” He told her and the confusion in her deepened, her Aura wavering for a moment.
“Cetcily, I promise, we won’t harm her, she’s truly is beautiful! I never thought I’d get to see an Otherkin! I thought it impossible, just a myth… You must be so very Blessed to have such a strong baby girl!” At my words she turned to face me.
“You… You’re not scared of her?” Her worry seemed to ebb some and with it her Aura. Releasing a breath I didn't know I held for fear of what power this woman held...
“No! I mean I can understand others… But Segre and me… We both have Blessings from Fair People, him from Harpies, and I by the Nymphs. You?” I asked and her shoulders slacked as a breath was released that told me she had more up her sleeves, than just Summoning Magic…
“All of them? I guess…” That was what really was surprising! I couldn’t speak! I mean… Harpies weren't kind creaturesm, but they loved strong beings and liked to gift strong Fire Castors, if they ever did become Leaders to a Caravan Troop, like Segre, and being a Seer is what earned my blessing from a Nymph that lives and cares for the gardens around the Nomad temple.
But the Mer Folk… Sure they loved to play around the Caravan as we traveled across the sea towards the Nomad Temple, but they would never bestow their blessing on anyone, ever! They were pridful of their heritage as Mer People. And the fairies they avoided Humans overall, even us Gypsies, and Elves overall, keeping instead to themselves!
“Now you have to tell us!” Segre flashed a grin as he swayed the little infant in his arms.
“Before that…” Cetcily looked to the baby, and I could tell what she wanted to ask.
“You mean you can’t sense it? Tay?” I asked and she shook her head.
“Sense what?”
“I can understand Theo, some, not to notice, yet, but…” To think that not even an Elf could sense the Aura the girl had with the amount of Mana being drawn into her and the Aether build-up… Not even I could apprehend it all until I felt it when it surrounded me! It just felt like the normal in-balance that we often dealt with the younger Gypsies learning to use their Magic.
“Maybe we should go inside, but after I get some ingredients first!” I hurried back into the Greenhouse, leaving Cetcily to show Segre in.
