Mia
Chapter Song: Everyone is gay
“Come on! That was funny!” I complained at Brysiese. She was glaring at me over the coffee I had given her.
“Giving someone laxatives in food is a dangerous game Mia.” she scolded me. “For God’s sake, you could’ve killed them!”
I crossed my arms and glared back. “I gave him the right dose!” I said. “I’m not stupid enough to give him a whole package like other people. Besides, you give me weird potions all the time for your little experiments.”
“And you know that I give them to you. You volunteered to drink them remember?” She took a sip of coffee. “This is good. New recipe?”
I shrugged. “Improving an old one. Now look, I gave Lucas the food for a reason,” I said.
Brysiese rolled her eyes. “Oh please, there wasn’t any reason! You just wanted to be a bully.”
I winced. That was true; I was being a bully, but come on! He follows me around almost everyday and tries to get it on with me! Why can’t I do something back at him?! I sat down across from Brysiese and sighed. “You’re right.” Bry raised her eyebrow. “I guess, I was trying to get revenge. I’m just so sick and fucking tired of him following me around and trying to get me to go on a God damned date with him!”
“Then why don’t you go on one with him?”
I stared at her with wide eyes. “What?!”
“You heard me. Ask him to go on a date with you.”
“Candle head? I’d rather eat the cupcake laxative than go out with him!” I yelled. “Besides, he’s never going to speak to me again now! And that’s just how I want it!”
Brysiese rolled her eyes. “Oh stop being dramatic, you’re acting like a Main.” she said.
I glared at her. “Don’t loop me in with them.”
“ Just simply apologize to him about the cupcake and tell him you’ll finally go on a date with him to make up for you being a bitch. He gets his date, and you get to finally be left alone. Isn’t that what people call a win/win?”
“And if I don’t?”
“No more of the cookies my mom bakes” Oh, that’s evil! I love those cookies!
I sighed and plopped my head on the table. “Sure, it could work. But I really don’t want to date.” What if it starts a story? What if something happens and I end up getting warped into some fairy land somewhere? I barely go out because of it. I have never had a boyfriend or girlfriend before, and I don’t date. Everyone at school and work knows this. If someone even tries to flirt with me I just let them down. Lucas has been to only stupid bastard that never gave up. And what about those stupid letters someone keeps putting in my locker? What sorry son of a bitch is even trying to like me?
Brysiese shrugged. “Tell him it’s not a date then. That you’re only doing it to make up for the cupcakes”
“That could work.”
The very next day, I dressed as nicely as I could with help from Brysiese. I had on a white knit sweater that was a size too big but still complimented my body and a blue flower mini skirt with white tights and pair of light brown ankle boots that Bry let me borrow. I put on a tiny bit of foundation and eyeliner and used a pink tinted chapstick. “Are you sure this is necessary?” I asked.
“You want him to say yes right?”Bry responded from behind me. She was fixing my “mess I call hair”.
“I don’t really care if he says yes or no. I’m only doing this because you won’t let me have anymore of those awesome cookies your mom makes.” I complained. She burned me with her tool and I yelped. “What the hell are you doing to me?!”
“Just fixing your hair. Now quit moving around and I won’t hurt you.”
“You just did!”
She smacked my head. “Shut up and let me work!”
I tried to glare at her. “You already forced me in this stupid outfit and made me put makeup on, can’t you leave my hair alone?”
My mom knocked on my bathroom door and poked her head in. “Everything alright?”
“Your daughter is complaining about stupid shit,” Brysiese answered.
“I am not!” I shouted at her. I turned to my mom with a frown. “She’s making me dress up so I can ask a guy out at school.”
My other mom poked her head in with a raised brow. “My Mia is asking someone out? Has pigs started flying?”
Mom looked up at her lover. “Come on, shouldn’t we be happy for her? She’s finally finding interest in someone.”
Ma shrugged. “I don’t really mind if she or dates or not, I just want my little baby to happy.”
“But what if she isn’t and ends up all alone just because she doesn’t want to follow her destiny?”
“Babe, Mia is a Main. Whether she likes it or not, her destiny started when she was born.”
“And this girl is sitting right here, listening to everything you say,” I said with annoyance.
Mom came in and gave me a hug. “Sorry kiddo. I’m just so proud of you!”
Ma leaned on the doorframe. “Yeah, you’re growing up.”
I smiled. I really loved my moms. I looked a lot like my birth mom. She was short and chubby like me with light brown hair and loving brown eyes. Her face was soft and her hair was long and usually kept in a low ponytail. She loved wearing dresses and little to no makeup. She was probably the cutest woman I have ever known and when she divorced my dad and met my other mom, I knew right away she was always going to be happy. My stepmom, Thel, was almost the complete opposite though. She was taller than us by a good foot, with beefy body and short blonde hair that she dyed bright pink. She had very chiseled features and piercing blue eyes. What I really loved about them is even though they are girls and completely in love I never felt out of place in the house. They excepted me the way I was and if I wanted to try something they supported me the whole way. Even when I told them I wanted to get a tongue piercing. Didn’t get it though.
“Okay, I’m done!” Brysiese said from behind and turned me to the mirror. My eyes widened in shock. She had curled my hair so the purple and blue really looked like it was a galaxy. My green eyes had just the right amount of makeup around them so they looked bigger and my skin was evenly tone from the foundation.
“Damn! Mia you clean up good!” My mom said from the door.
I shrugged and started packing my bag. “I look alright,” I said. “I just want to get it done and over with.”
After I got everything packed, I gave both my moms a hug and kiss, and dragged Brysiese out to school telling them bye as we left. We got buckled in her car and Brysiese gave me a little vial full of pink powder and two ticket to the nearby amusement park “What are you giving me?”
She started the car with a smile. “That should help you with Lucas. It’s supposed to strengthen your natural pheromones. Just sprinkle a little on your chest and wrists before going on your date.”
“It’s NOT a date! I’m just going to ask him to coffee or something.”
“That’s why I gave you the tickets.”
We drove to school fairly quickly and rushed in. We were later than usual so we both went straight to homeroom. Lucky Lucas and his friend was already there. I glanced at Brysiese and she gave me the thumbs up. I walked over to them and tried to smile, I felt like I looked like Mandy from that old cartoon The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy.
“Um, hi Lucas,” I stuttered nervously.
Chris glared at me with his arms crossed. “What the hell do you want bitch?!” he yelled. “Here to try and poison us a second time?”
I winced. That kind of hurt. “A-actually I want to say sorry,” I said. My head was down in defeat as they both stared holes at my head. “I really shouldn’t have given you laxatives. It could’ve seriously hurt you guys. So to make it up I decided to ask give you these.” I thrusted the tickets to Lucas. “I had a few tickets and thought maybe to make up for poisoning you I would take you here.” I could feel my face get hotter the more I talked. Why the hell am I blushing? “It’s not a date or anything. Just a way to maybe become friends?”
Lucas didn’t say a word. He looked at the ticket and then me. “And if you don’t want to go I completely understand! I wouldn’t want to hang with a guy that snuck me laxatives either.” I put the tickets on his desk and smile sadly at him. “Have a good day Lucas.”
I walked as quickly as I could back to Brysiese and kept my back to them. “What the hell was that?”
I grinned at her. “It’s called using my womanly wiles. You should try it.” I whispered.
“You didn’t even get him to agree,” she hissed.
I shrugged. “Just give it a few minutes. Let him stew on the thought. If he really wants to go with me, he’ll come over. I he goes with Chris than that’s okay too.”
Like clockwork, I felt Lucas put his hand on my shoulder to get my attention. “Um, hey. I guess I’ll go with you,” he shrugged. “Will this Saturday do?”
I made my eyes shine with glee and smiled at him. “Sure! Just meet me at the gates at noon!”
He smiled at me before turning to move back to his seat. “It’s a date then.”
