Celli took the pot of the hot embers and motioned for Tay to help. Tay with her Water Magic and Celli with her Wind, the Milk cooled rapidly due to their Magic clashing and creating a frost surrounding the ‘ointment’.
“That was the easy part, the rest anyone who is a ‘Healer’ can do, as this isn’t the convenient method to make salves. Like you would infuse your Aura to create potions, this little mixture will work either way it’s fused with Healing Aura with slightly different feel depending on the Element used to finish it. Earth will make it sticky, but after a few minutes after applying it will be absorbed into the skin, Water turns it to a lighter mint leave color while making it really fluid, Wind makes into something like butter; while with Tay, the time she helped with her Light Aura, it turned iridescent and oily. What’s important to remember is that never fuse more than Element into it, it won’t work, it hardens complexly, and unlike potions, too much infusion of the Aura will cause the opposite of what we want, in this case stop Mana refinement!” Celli explained and gestured to Tay to use her light Aura.
“Light was the most effective last time. And then, once done, just rub evenly over the little one’s body and done.” Celli smiled as if was the simplest thing in the world. Just five ingredients and there it was a means…
“Does it mean it can keep her from developing her Aura?” I had to be sure!
“No, because she already has an incredible Aura, didn’t you notice that Golden Light, that isn’t normal, and it was hers, not something caused by any Magic of Segre’s!” Celli’s rest her hand on my shoulder.
“Done. Do you want us to apply it now?” Tay asks cautiously, and I wish she could tell me what caused her to lose her charm. I fear she is scared of what Asha might be… But how do I get her to open up and I do I tell her?
“Tay, would you mind?” Celli askes and Tay shakes her head taking a vial full she heads to the communion room.
“There’s a Guardian that is shrouded in mystery, no one knows even his name, but he is the one that practically raised me and a few other children, Segre included, we were orphans, our parents having died during a fire. He was never there for any of us twenty-four seven but would just appear. He taught us everything we know, not only how to sense Mana, but the very Aether running through the Earth, something passed down to only Guides, the people that tell the Caravan where to go. Our caravan is young and the first without a ‘Guide’. Segre, myself and a handful of others work together to route our course from our home in the desserts to the south and back each year! Beside that he also told us to respect all life, no matter the form. You’re skeptical to how I and Segre aren’t acting surprised by her, but really, even though we are, it’s normal, because to us she’s just another wonderful new life in this world!” Those words calmed any doubts she still had.
Truly meeting Theo and Tay was a miracle!
“We might never know how it was possible for her Aether to have been so highly off balance, or why we it’s bare sensed.” Segre informed Theo just as me and Celli entered the room.
I saw him gently sway with Asha in his arms. Tay already rubbed the ointment in on Asha, Segre was no longer using his Magic, I could see he was drained! I had initially asked Theo to be her godparent, but he said I’d better know who would be better fit for the title once I met them. He had made another valid remark in that regard when he said it might be best if it were people who could keep her safe should anything ever happen… Gypsies were travelers, and celli and Segre… They just saved her life when no one even knew something was wrong!
“Will the two of you…” I hesitated, was this too soon to ask? I had just met them! But it felt like I had known them my entire life!
“… be her godparents? I feel that you’ll be able to keep her safe if… ‘if’ ever something were to occur to disrupt the peace…” I hinted to them, it wasn’t safe for me and even less for her, this world just would never accept her so freely as this ever growing small family would…
“We’d be honored!” Segre handed me Asha’s sleeping form. It was a form of trust he was enforcing by giving Asha back after what had happened earlier, and I was grateful.
