Drake picked me up for school... Which I didn't expect seeing how he acted the night before. Isabel already had a ride with her new boyfriend, Brady Thomas, and I didn't want to get in his car, so I was waiting for Mom to get ready so I could drive her car with her to school, but then Drake showed up. I ran inside.
"Mom, Drake is going to drive me to school." I said.
"Are you sure that you want to go with him?" Mom asked, "Seeing how he treated you yesterday?" I was an idiot to have told my parents what happened, but it irritated me.
"It wasn't his fault." I said, "His mother started it."
"If you really want to." Mom said, "Just stay safe, Nick."
"I will." I said as I walked out the front door with my backpack in hand. I walked up to Drake's car. He had the one window down, so we could talk.
"I'm sorry for yesterday." Drake said, "I just... Come in the car." I opened the car door and got in the car, closing the door behind me. Drake pushed the button to close the window and looked into my eyes.
"It's okay." I said, "But it hurts that you don't believe me."
"I'll try to believe you from now on." Drake said, "But with you being so petite and all, it's hard to believe."
"I don't understand why it's so hard to believe." I said. Drake smiled sadly.
"The thing is..." Drake said, "I'm pretty sure that everyone has something nobody else will ever believe about them."
"Like you failing Algebra 3?" I asked. Drake frowned.
"Don't remind me, Nicky." Drake said, "But, hey, at least you're helping me with that."
"Yeah." I said, "I'm helping you."
"Why do you like me, Nicky?" Drake asked. I smiled.
"There is a very long list of things that I like about you." I said, "But most importantly, I like your willingness to help people, even if your friends don't want you to. And you don't judge people as easily as most people."
"But I kept calling your gender a joke." Drake said, "I feel horrible about that."
"And that's a good thing." I said, "If you didn't feel horrible about it, you would be just that, horrible, but you do feel horrible about it. You're a wonderful person, Drake, stop doubting yourself."
"Okay." Drake said, "We're here." I looked out the window and noticed that we were at school.
