Today is the eighth day. The first week of The Last is finally over. No more Thunderbird. No more annoying teachers. Still got some homework though and this time, I'm going to do it! No more Cement water for next week! My eye twitched as I remembered what my Mom told me this morning at breakfast.
“Oh did I tell you?” She started off to say.
“No what?” I stopped eating my toast.
“Keith is arriving today.” She said.
“Who that?”
“Your Professor!” She smiled and I choked.
Oh god, it’s actually happening someone send me a life line or something. Perhaps a noose? It wouldn’t work but I can still try!
I exhaled.
“Let’s just enjoy this Spin.” I told myself, eyeing the fresh greenery of the forest. I was waiting for Maybe to appear.
I had given them a letter, seeing as there were too many people to tell them to meet me in Wicked Forest so that we can hang. I figured they probably didn’t want that and neither would the main character Alice. River Head Mansions means a lot to her.
Sometimes I secretly think that she use to live there with her family when they were alive but other times I believe that she’s a history geek who tragically lost her family in a vicious fire leaving her the last heir of the Chateau family. The main character must always have a tragic background.
“Ninety-One!” Maybe’s voice startled me as I saw their body running towards me for a full-on hug. I braced for impact. I'm not used to people, besides my parents, touching me unless it's in a violent way. But Maybe did. They hugged me, their arms wrapping around my body and I felt my heart pound a little bit.
Suddenly they let go and backed away from me and I saw what they were wearing. It was formal clothes, slacks and a white shirt with a loose vest along with a fedora hat.
“Nice to see you outside of The Last!” They expressed, grinning from ear to ear.
“Im actually surprised you even came!” I told and they looked at me funny.
“Are you really?” They questioned.
“Yeah. Out of all the Verses who hang around you- I doubted that we’d your first choice.” I admitted.
They laughed, “To be honest, I’m happy you invited me out. You’re the only Verse who doesn’t go ‘Oh Maybe you’re so cool! Break your arm and let us see those Pernal powers work!’It gets really annoying when Verses do that.”
“Ah!” I snapped my fingers, “So they are annoying as hell. Well, keep hanging around us and they’ll scatter like roaches!”
“I’d actually like to see that!” Their face glowed and I smiled.
“Good cause I mean it!” I laughed, “Anyway whats with the outfit oh so great and powerful? You know we’re going to an old mansion.” I started to lead the way to River Head.
“I have a meeting to attend to after we’re done. My folks…” Their facial expression shifted from a happy-go-luck to a down right depressing and I felt my heart cry out.
“Don’t force yourself to talk about something you don’t like. Especially when it comes to parents.” I patted them on the back, “Let's enjoy this Spin. The mansion is haunted!”
Their face changed to one that gleamed brightly, “Did you say haunted?!”
“Hell yeah!” I nodded my head, “Let's go!” I ran up a head and Maybe chased me.
