"Is that all you've got Melodie?" A young cracking voice could be heard over the clashing of metal. "You wish Sinon!" A smooth high voice said in return.

Two people stood in a clearing in a dense forest, each covered with sweat and holding swords. The trees stood high above, their leaves a dark emerald. Their trunks the color of dark chocolate, and the grass surrounding them a bright lime. The cerulean blanket above was completely clear of clouds, as it's bright white sun shone down on the two.

One of the people was a girl, she was relatively tall, with pale skin and dirty blonde hair that resembled gold in the sun. She wore a red hoodie, despite it being warm, along with dark cyan pants and tall black high tops. She had one dark forest eye and a light robin egg eye. Her nails were sharp, almost claw like. From her back sprouted two wings, that were lined with black and had purple webbing.

The other girl was slightly taller, with sun colored hair and tanned skin. The girl had one white eye and one gray eye. She wore an off the shoulder cyan top, with dark turquoise trimming, and her bra straps showing. She had on black shorts that went one fourth of the way down her thigh. She wore the same tall high tops but instead they were a dark turquoise to match the trimming on her top. instead of two ears on the side of her head, on top sat two gray wolf ears, the girl also had a gray tail, dipped in white.

"Just because I'm blind in one eye doesn't mean I can't fight Sinon!" the girl with the wolf ears said, as the two's swords clashed together. "That's what it looks like Melodie!" Sinon yelled back, flying off the ground and dropping over Melodie, pinning her down for a split second. "Cheater!" Melodie forcefully pushed off Sinon and stood quickly, her tail swishing back and forth as Sinon took a swing at her from the left. Melodie crouched down, dodging it, and took a swing at Sinon's feet, knocking her to the ground.

Melodie quickly straddled Sinon, pinning her down. "I believe I won that one!" Melodie said with a smile exposing her pointy canines into a dog-like grin. Sinon tried to break free but failed."Alright, Melodie, you won this one, curse you and your werewolf strength!" Sinon grinned back, showing her mouth full of fangs.

Melodie got off Sinon, and held out her hand, pulling her up in a swift motion. "How come you always beat up one of your best friends?!" Sinon pouted as she slouched. "You know it's training! I have to take it seriously!" Melodie said, walking over to one of the thicker trees and pulling two bottles from the turquoise and purple bag leaning against it. "Here. You need to hydrate." Melodie said, turning and tossing one of the bottles to Sinon.

"Thanks!" Sinon hopped off the ground and flew to the tree, sitting down and looking up at Melodie as she drank. "Lazy cheater." Melodie cracked a grin at Sinon and sat down, drinking the clear liquid as well. "It's not cheating if it's your own strength!" Sinon insisted as Melodie reached into the bag and handed Sinon an apple. "Fine, but at least stop flying in fights, it makes it completely unfair!" Sinon slammed her hand onto her chest. "Excuseeeee me! But aren't you the one who won? If anything I helped you prepare in case of an emergency where you need to fight someone who can fly!" Sinon said sarcasm dripping from her every word.

"Sureeee!" Melodie said, giggling silently at her friend as she bit into her own apple.

"We should get back to the house, Koi, Loki, and Ash might start to worry." Sinon said, finishing the last of her apple. Melodie nodded tossing her core into the forest. Sinon looked at her in disbelief. "It's recycling! It will help the soil!" Melodie reasoned. Sinon shrugged and threw hers into the forest as well.

Sinon and Melodie arrived at their home. It was a two story gray house with black shingles. It had large windows and a nice deck at the front, along with some balconies on the second floor. Sinon was the first to go in, only to be tackled by a boy. He had sandy colored hair and blue eyes. He wore a hoodie that resembled Sinon's, but his was black. He wore some navy jeans and black converse. He also had wings, but they were black with yellow webbing.

"Ash! Calm down we weren't gone that long!" Sinon insisted. "I know, I just like tackling you!" Sinon groaned. “Why me?”

Melodie walking in, past Ash and Sinon and sat at the island in their kitchen. The room was cream colored with a white granite island in the middle. The right wall was lined with matching counters, fitting in a stove, dishwasher, sink, and fridge. To the left was an arched doorway. The flooring was a dark colored wood style linoleum. There was a dining table in the left corner that was slightly lighter than the floors. The island was lined with wrought iron stools on the left.

Two other people sat at the island, a short girl with frizzy burgundy hair, crystal blue eyes, and copper skin. She had a black cat tail and matching ears. She wore a light pink t-shirt with a Myrtle Beach logo on the back and front pocket. She also had on some short black sweatpants and worn sneakers. The other person at the table was a tall boy, with mahogany hair and opal eyes. His hair was messy and unkempt. He had a white cat tail and matching ears. The boy wore a plain navy t-shirt and some baggy jeans that almost covered his black and green Nikes.

Melodie waved at the girl. "Hey, Koi!" The girl smiled showing her cat-like teeth. "Hi, Melodie!" Melodie nodded towards the boy. "Hey, Loki" The boy just toyed with his fingers, bored. "Oh, sup Mel." He said, realizing she had talked to him. "Who won this time?" Koi asked, excitedly. "Melodie." Sinon sighed as she and Ash joined them at the island.

"Better luck next time Sin!" Ash said playfully and he messed with a string that he had pulled from his pocket. "Thanks!" Sinon said. There were a few moments of contempt silence as the five enjoyed each other's company. "Who else is hungry?" Ash and Loki said at the same time. "Jinx!" Loki shouted laughing at Ash who was too slow.

"I'll get started on dinner," Melodie said as she got out some hamburger meat and fired up the mini grill. "Who's up for burgers?"

The stars shined brightly as the lights turned off one by one in the house in the woods. Melodie sat on the roof, staring off into the sky. "Whats wrong?" Melodie jumped as Koi joined her on the roof, sitting beside her. "Nothing."

Koi rolled her eyes. "You only come up here when there's something troubling you." Melodie sighed in defeat. "Alright. I guess I just feel a little alone." Koi raised an eyebrow. "But you're here with us!" Melodie shook her head. "Not what I mean. I'm the only werewolf, so it kind of feels like I'm excluded from everyone in some way. I mean, you and Loki are Felans, and Sinon and Ash are Dracins. I'm just different." Melodie hugged her knees to her chest, staring at her feet.

Koi hugged Melodie tightly. "You'll never be alone. Everyone is different. In some way or another. I'll never let you be alone." Melodie hugged Koi back. Resting her head on her shoulder. "Promise?”
