After a few hours of convincing, they asked me to think about this overnight.

I walked home, slowly, while thinking about this offer.

Should I accept? There's no need to, nothing I can get from accepting this offer. 

But then again, why not do something different for a change? Maybe I can help humans in a different way. Maybe I can have, "friends".

"Mother, father, I'm home." 

I sat down properly at the dimly lit dinner table. The food on the plate did not look appetizing in this light. 

"Zereth, welcome home." My mother greeted me with no smile on her face. 

The words sliced through the stiff atmosphere.

"What did you do today?" She asked.

"I've interacted with humans today, and I am thinking about accepting their proposal to travel with them."

Father slammed the table in rage. He stood up and yelled at me.

"Zereth Arical Sapphire! I told you this before, humans are only trading partners. They are not things that you should have other interactions with!"

Enraged, I stumped on the floor and stood up. "They are not things, father. They are people. Nice people, in fact. Unlike Bluers, they actually care about me!"

"You dare to talk back to your father? Zereth Arical, you are a shame to the Sapphire family!"

"At least humans respect my opinion! If I go with them, I can help them and protect them! And they will help me, too! Maybe, without you, I can finally make friends!"

"What happens if they die, Zereth?!" My father shouted. "What will you do?!"

Silence spread in the room as the echo swept away the rage.
