‘What weird dream? Is it the one you mentioned earlier today?’
‘Well, I don’t quite remember. Should be somewhere in a dark environment and I just saw a boy looked like him walking and walking. OMG it sounds creepy.’
‘Oh my god you are dug in your own fantasy again.’ Apparently Sarah did not find that story told by Jody any trustworthy. She gave Jody the here-you-go-again eyesight and then focused back on her textbook and the teacher, but Jody would not let go of here concentrated interest in this subject matter.
‘OK now, I need some elaboration about you point about he is a weird guy.’
‘Why are you so into him? Trust me you will not want anybody like him to be your boyfriend.’
‘Oh come on, it is not like that. Just tell me why he is a weird guy.’
Sarah stared at Jody and it took several seconds for Sarah to be convinced of Jody’s seriousness—seemingly of course.
‘I am not a close friend with him. I just know that he rarely talks and he is so cold to other people.’ ‘Cold?’ ‘Yea, I think I have never seen him smile to anybody before. His face is constantly the look of a rock of stone.’
‘He does not smile even when he aces his exams or whatever?’
‘OF COURSE not.’ Sarah answered promptly with a snort. ‘He thought that beating all other people is an of-course because he thinks he is the smartest guy in our school. You know, one time when people congratulates him on his excellent achievement, he told those guys to be ashamed of their incompetence whether than be happy of his achievements.’
‘OMG that is a little bit rude and hurtful.’
‘A little bit? That is not a little bit rude if you also consider his eyesight and tone at that moment!’
‘So does he have any friend-group?’
‘Well not that I know. Frankly, do you want to be a friend with a classmate like this? Maybe he is in the blue-blood noble groups from an underground society.’ Sarah replied sarcastically. ‘He eats alone at lunchtime, does not participate in any after-school activities, does not join any school teams or clubs, and leaves school immediately when school ended.’
‘Well, it seems that he is really kind of weird’ Jody concluded thoughtfully.
Their conversation came to an end with the teacher calling the attention of the class, and his announcement on the inter-class talent show. He asked the class to discuss on their performance on the show. But Jody is no longer paying attention in the class, and her mind went back outside the window to the outside world.
Outside the cage of classroom, Jody saw an arrow of birds soaring through faraway skylines.
School ended at 3 pm. Jody let out a yawn, and joined the steam of students escaping the classroom, the school building the return to their ‘outside world’.
