This is not my day.
The thought that kept running in Dee's mind as she sat on a makeshift bench outside a repair shop.
"Ahhh! no... that's not right. That felt like a death flag. Should not have thought that" Dee screams at herself.
Dee is waiting in the repair shop. It's been two days since the epic errand adventure of a night and their van was so wrecked after the whole escapade she and the boys had to get it fix.
Lucky for them the whole tour crew is still in town and will be staying until the next day so they are not in a hurry to leave.
Dee, now resting outside the closed shop while drinking her beer at one in the afternoon is waiting for the repairman to arrive. She lazily gazes at afternoon sky, the clouds making intricate shapes and patterns, trying to occupy her mind to avoid boredom.
She grumbles to herself.
She told herself she’ll wait for another 15 min before leaving.
They have to leave town soon, she thought. After the event, the boys and she were expecting that it will be all over the news but nothing showed up on the television news, newspaper or even any other social media sites. Even the potholes that the big fight created were covered up.
Does rushing the vans repair and leaving town will be the ideal thing for them. They should leave the whole Gator and gang stuff to the Powered-Heroes and the police.
She took another sip of her beer and checked the time five minutes have passed. Still no repairman.
"This is taking to long." She was getting pissed off.
"Arg!! Where are you, you hairy bastard!" She screams.
"Oh, you've been waiting long?" a burly voice said.
Dee looked at the person with the voice. It was the repairman.
"You look drunk."
Dee told the mechanic while giving him a sharp piercing. She is pissed off. It's one thing to be late but it's a whole different story to be late and drunk.
"Hahaha, not yet girly...not yet" The man laughs at Dee as he unlocks the padlock of the shop.
Dee rolled her eyes.
"I've been waiting here for hours, you should at least greet me properly. Is the van ready yet?"
"No, not yet...Hairy huh?...burrp!" the mechanic let out a disgusting burp in Dee's face.
He heard me she thought.
"That reeks! God, that's nasty... I'm going to vomit."
Dee stepped away from the man and covered her nose.
"You said it'll be done today" Dee continued.
"Yes, come back in the at five it'll be ready by then... now go away you'll be disrupting my work process" the mechanic then weave at Dee then slam the door in her face.
"Work process my ass! hump!... You are hairy! It’s a fact not an insult!" Dee shouted at the door angrily
Not the time to start a fight Dee thought. Especially not with the man fixing the van.
“Hey, I’m sorry!” She shouted again at the still closed door.
“I’ll be back at five”
She looked at the sky with disdain. Deciding to meet up with the boys to pass the time she speed-dials, Richie.
“Rich…” she was about to speak more when Richie interrupted.
"Hey Dee, hold on... Abel, I said get me chili cheese. No... that's disgusting how can you eat that... sir, forget what my friend said just give me a chili cheese dog... Sorry, ma'am, there is no need to push, I know you have been waiting in line but so have we!... Yeah? Well just because of that we will take our sweet time…Okay, Dee what up?"
"Really? I'm waiting here for hours and the both of you are eating hot dogs?"
"Don't worry we got you something, so how is the van?" Richie said reassuringly.
"Van's no go. The mechanic said it'll be done by five, but with his drunk ass I bet I'll still take longer." She informs Richie.
"Really? I told you I should have just fixed it myself. If I did that I'll be fixed yesterday" Richie replied.
"If you repair the van it'll run with some radioactive material and have armor and guns, so no" Dee replied with a matter of fact voice.
"Hey after the other night I'm thinking not a bad idea. Think about it Gatling Guns" replied Richie.
"Hahaha, you know what will be cool? Armor piercing bullets" Dee heard Abel said in the background.
"And where do you guys think we could get those things?"
"Oh please, I'm a genius... I can make somethi..."
Boom! Ahh!!! Someone help! Smoke! Run!!
An explosive sound can be heard from Richie's side of the line. Some screaming and running foots steps echoed in the background.
"The fuck!... Wait!...Abel come back here! Dee got to go something is happening to meet you at the hotel."
"Hey! What’s happening? don't" then silence "hung-up!"
"This is not my day," Dee said to herself as she let out a sigh and started heading uptown where the hotel is.
