Jake walked lifelessly on the road. His eyesight was dimed and staring at the front. His movement was robotic, marching according to a steady but boring rhyme. From an outsider’s point of view, he looked like a patrolling soldier in perfect discipline and capacity---if only he was not wearing his school uniform, and if only he did not look like a 14-years-old boy.
In the eyes of Jake, the surrounding is both standing still and at the same time moving. It symbolizes danger but at the same time opportunities that attracts his curiosity. Yet, he walked pass the street without more than just a glance.
Jake’s home is in another part of the city away from the school, deep in the high-class area. His family may not be ridiculously super rich, but definitely wealthy enough to support a mansion of 3 floors and quite luxury lifestyle. So, a traditional successful family.
Jake is the only child in the family, and as expected, their parents rest high hope on him. That is the reason why Jake is now heading back home for additional private tutorial class. Their parents hired this teacher who graduated from the top university with the top GPA.
Jake looked up to the sky, and saw an array of birds breaking the silence in his world. Noises started to be transmitted into his ears. Taps and taps from the footsteps of other passengers; conversations from students from other schools leaving school together; away from him the beeps of vehicles; the music played from the radio of a restaurant beside the position Jake is now standing on. The sound of the city—it was such a dull piece of symphony.
At this moment, a ray of breeze hit Jake’s face and rushed through his cheek. He felt the refreshing coolness.
The wind of autumn.
Jake stopped and realized that he was in front of a convenience store. ‘Maybe I should grab a drink’ he thought and proceeded inside the door.
The door sensed Jake’s motion and gradually opened. A girl came into Jake’s view.
“I am REALLY REALLY sorry. I must have lost my wallet somewhere.”
