Colin entered the room, putting his phone back in his pocket with a sheepish face.
— He's on his way.
— I am fine though. — I answer not for the first time from the cot. — It's just a couple of bruises and scratches. Nothing significant. Nothing I haven't dealt with before. They are healing already.
— Ma'am, he had scabies.
And that was the end of the discussion. There were only a fill diseases capable of affecting werewolves. Unfortunately, scabies was one of those and, believe me; you wouldn't want to see what happens to those who got it.
He stayed there, by the door, looking everywhere but me. His feet moved, changing the weight from one leg to another, nails digging into his fingers as he nervously messed whit his cuticles. It was unnerving.
— What?! — I barked, making him jump a little. I wasn't one of the nicest people. — It's not even underwear, it' a sports bra! — I complained, pointing at my breasts, as he paled and then reddened from the ears to the neck. Which gave him a rather cute look, when you considered his massive brute size.
— I-I, no! It's not it! I just, — seeming to sigh in resignation, he took a deep breath — I'm sorry Alpha — and assumed a military style posture, — It was, it was my fault the rogue entered the pack territory. — Gulped twice — I didn't, — He stopped. Breathed and sighed again — I didn't sound the alarm, and he got to you. — and finished looking to somewhere up my shoulder — It was my fault that you got attacked.
I looked at his face blankly as he stared the wall behind me.
— And? — I replied dryly.
He dragged his eyes back to mine then, quickly averting them to the ground soon after. The silence just extended himself, and I let it that way just out of annoyance. Colin squirmed, sweated, and I'm pretty sure I could hear his heart rate increase by the second.
— Have you ever realized that your head almost touches the top of the door frame? — I asked in wonder.
— What? — Now I had got him confused.
— Your head, — I said it again, signalizing with the hand to him to look up — See? Almost at the door frame.
He squirmed a little more, looking up at the frame. Opening and closing his mouth, trying to discover what to say to that, he finally looked back at me with a lost stare, and I took pity.
— If you are so freaking huge, that you almost have to bow to pass by a pretty standard door, then why the f*ck are you behaving like a child? Stop fidgeting; it's unnerving! And I wasn't attacked, I was challenged.
He gaped at me, seeming uncomfortable and just a little offended.
— A-Alpha John, — I didn't let him finish.
— For crying out- John is dead. I killed the damn bastard! — I said jumping from the cot to face him up close. — Would rather have him in this situation?!
— N-no, I-
— Them why does he still have a say in how you behave? — I screamed in his face as he started to shake under my gaze.
Someone cleared their throat behind him, and we both stepped aside to look at the newcomer.
— Bad timing? — Brian said, stepping in. — I can come back later if needed, — He had a bright smile plastered on his furry face.
— No, No that's ok. — I sighing, tired. — Let's finish it already. — I walked back to the cot and sat down. — And Colin! — He halted on his way out, looking frightened. — Don't you ever compare me to that f*cking piece of sh*t ever again? I'm not him. — He nodded, still without looking at my eyes, as the doctor went preparing the vaccine. — It's been years, Colin. I would never- Hell no! — I screamed as I look to at least half a dozen needles displayed in front of Brian — You are not sticking all of those in me!
— Sorry, Alpha. — He grinned — But I have to.
Somehow, I didn't think he was so sorry at all.
