"Oh! Really?" I was shocked.
"I'm not his sister-in-law," Melody giggled.
"We're brother and sister-"
"Sorta." Chase chimed in.
I smiled. Melody's skin was the color of a perfectly baked chocolate chip cookies, her hair was black and well past her shoulders slightly curly at the ends and she had the longest legs I had ever seen. She was wearing make-up, too, but I hadn't worn make up since I partly cured my acne.
I, on the other hand, have white skin and a red tint on my cheekbones that never seems to leave, bright green eyes and brown hair that's just barely below my jaw. I'm 5'2 which is surprising really short these days and I'm just a little chubby for a figure-skater. Young ones like me are usually a little smaller but I kinda got over it because when if talked to my mother about it she'd used some of her psychology methods on me, which I found annoying. It's really hard for someone like myself, to have a psychologist as a mother. Everything you do will be held against you and/or will be in her next book.
I stared at Chase and observed. Chase's hair is obviously black but only the roots at the top. The rest is blonde and thick and his hair is past his neck with a long bang covering the left eye. His eyes are purely black and if you ignored the fact that he's dressed like a boy and didn't hear his voice, you would think he was 12 because of the innocent look on his face.
"What are you guys buying today?" I asked "My cousin's birthday gift." Chase replied, smiling.
"I'm just buying stuff... anyway, see you on monday..." I quickly walked ahead, but stopped when Melody said, "Maybe we could hang-out sometime." I stopped but didn't turn around.
"Alright. See you in school!" I replied happily. "Could I be making friends with Chase and Melody?" I thought, looking at books. My day felt so different.
--------------------------------------------------------
Once again, I was walking home by myself. I felt a little more safe knowing that Canada's crime rate is lower than America's, that rumor may not be true in all areas. 7:30 looks like midnight in fall, I felt like I was in a daze. "Bernadette!" I Jumped as Bonnie grabbed my arm from behind me. "You wanna hang with us tonight?" Bonnie asked me with two of her friends behind us. "Um... I can't," I replied nervously. "It's a school night."
"It's okay! We're just going to a cafe to get some tea. No big deal." One of Bonnie's friends says.
"We hafta be home by 9:00, so we have like two hours! Come on!" Bonnie ended up pulling me along, anyway. Bonnie loves coffee. Her and her friends always go to out at night, nobody knows what they did, though. "Sit down right by me, Bernardia." Bonnie's friend said.
"I'm Yalonda!" The one with blonde and green eyes said.
"I'm Amanda!" The one with the blonde hair and brown eyes said.
"I'm Bonnie!" The one with the blue eyes and blonde hair said.
"Are they letting me into their group?!" I thought, excitedly. " let's get hot-chocolate!" Amanda said loudly. We put in our orders and waited for them to be finished. "Have you seen Chase, lately?" Yolanda asked with a huge smile.
"Yeah-"
"What did you guys talk about!?" Amanda asked (loudly).
"N-nothing much." I said.
"So, your not so good at baking, huh?" Yalonda asked laughing a little. I didn't reply.
"Did they just invite me here to tease me?" I thought.
"Gosh!" Amanda said kinda cutting me off. "When is Lyrical coming?"
"He should be coming right about..." Bonnie trailed off looking at the door. The door opened and Lyrical was walking in."Lyrical!!!" The girls yelled. Lyrical walked over.
"What?"
"My ten dollars." Bonnie said. Lyrical takes a ten dollar bill out and hands it to her. "You can leave now." Bonnie said rolling her eyes. Lyrical sat down. "I'm just staying to watch." He said. Amanda and Yolanda giggled like crazy.
"As I was saying," Bonnie said. "She's like, so shy. Even at home. I dunno why..." I blushed. "Maybe we can teach you how to not be shy!" Amanda said. Bonnie and Yolanda nodded. "Have you noticed that when ever someone says something to you, you talk about something totally different than what the original topic was?" Bonnie said. "Lyrical..." I whined slamming my face flat on the table we were sitting at. Then I had a flashback.
Me: "You shop here chase?"
Chase: "No way! I only do pink in spring."
Me: "Oh yeah! I've been practicing on that cookie recipe..."
I did talk off topic unnecessarily! It could have been different like this.....
Me: "You shop here chase?"
Chase: "No way! I only do pink in spring."
Me: "Oh! *giggles* how come?"
Chase: "It's the only time when waring pink is 100% necessary! Wouldn't be seen dead wearing pink any other time.
Then that conversation would have went on for a while longer! Without warning, my lips began to tremble and my vision be came blurred with tears. "OMG! Is she seriously crying!?" Amanda yelled. "Holy shiz! She is!" Bonnie laughed. Feeling mortified, I ran out. I hoped Lyrical wouldn't come after me...
