"Tell me more!" I said, determined.
"Tell me how to not be shy!"
Chase's face looked confused for a second, but soon switched back to a sweet smile. "Smile. Just smile sometimes okay? When you smile, you don't feel as scared."
He slowly rode off. " And by the way," chase said far ahead of me. "Your cupcakes had balls of unmixed flour in them."
I smiled and skipped the rest of the way home. I opened my front door and walked into the kitchen to my step-siblings and mother and step-father talking about something awkwardly "What's going on?"
Florence and my mother looked... strangely distant.
"I'm pregnant..." My mother said to us, but was looking directly at me. My emotion went right onto my face. My mother frowned. Lyrical had that look on his face. He has very good instincts, so usually when he makes that confused face, his hunch is 98% of the time correct.
"Mrs. Royal...how many months along are you?" Lyrical asked staring her in the face. "About 8 months along, so we're going to have him very soon." She replied quietly. I didn't know what to feel.
"When did you find out!?" Bonnie asked angrily. "Awhile back... Since the beginning of the pregnancy, really." Florence said casually. I finally identified my emotion. Betrayed.
"How could you not tell me?" I yelled. My mother looked surprised. "I don't know..." My mother said. "No wonder you got so fat!" Bonnie said trying to bring comic relief.
"It's complicated" Florence said.
My mother was quiet. "Please don't get her worked up. We really don't need any distractions right now." Lyrical said, as he dragged me out the kitchen "May I be excused?" I asked, They didn't reply. Once in front of my room, Lyrical asked me. "Are you alright?" I nodded. Lyrical looked thoughtfully. "Why didn't they mention it? Are they gonna break up or something?" Bonnie looked horrified. "They've been married four years...!" I couldn't keep my head clear. I felt like I was becoming distant from my only friend. My mother...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I looked at my calendar. It was September and Monday. I had two plans for that day and not including school. My baking class and skating practice! I sighed as I sat at the dining table. "Bernadette, what's wrong?" My mother asked. "Nothing you would care about." I replied coldly.
-----------------------------------------------------------
At school, I held my backpack over my shoulder and did it when I walked down the hall. By third period, I stopped because it felt like people were looking at me. After horrible school I went to the center. "Miss Bernadette," I stopped in front of the door. Who calls me 'Miss Bernadette'? Chase didn't nor did Melody, and Monarchy didn't. I turned around to a guy about my age. He was buff, tall and had a low and dead voice. "Here," He opened the door for me. "D-do I know you?" I asked. "I'm Robbie. We're in the play by Mr. Tammy, right?"
I wanted to cry. Not him. I'm so small, he looked like if he tapped me I would shatter like a compact in a purse that fell out a car window! (True story, by the way.)
"Okay..." my voice froze, as always, so I walked with him. We walked past my baking class, I couldn't help, meet eyes with Chase who was unlocking the door to his class. "Bernadette, good afternoon!" Chase said.
I blushed. "I'm going to a rehearsal. I might not be able to come today."
Chase slightly glanced at Robbie. "Don't mind, don't mind! Well, since you can't come, I just thought you should know that were making lollipops today." I frowned. "Sorry, I hafta go." I ran ahead and hoped I didn't sound rude. Robbie opened the door for me. "So, I see you've mat, Robbie." Tammy said enthusiastic. Right away, we practice our couples performance. I felt extremely uncomfortable when he lifted me. And just having to interact with him made me scared. He was tall! And he like, never smiled and his eye brows were always narrowed. And to think, I could have been making lollipops at the moment. I wanted to ask for a different partner, but I wouldn't allow myself. After Mr.Tammy and Robbie, left, I continued to practice my routine. "Whoa!" A voice said, echoing throughout the entire place. "C-Chase! Hi..." I said skating toward him. Chase and Melody's eyes were wide and their mouths were open. "Your amazing! When did you learn to do all that?" Chase asked. My face felt hot. "Um... I started lessons when I was three, so...." My head was spinning, I felt so embarrassed.
"Your on Fable! Lucky you!" Melody gushed, "Are you finished practicing? 'Cause Melody and I were going to get some hot chocolate at Tim Horton's, you wanna come?" Chase asked.
