One month later

I lay in bed. I slide into my chair. Dirk rolls over. "Where you going babe?" he asks. "I'm going for a roll." I roll to the living room. Bec was sitting by the door. I reach for the leash but couldn't reach it. I fall out my chair but I finally got it. Dirk rushes in as I got back in my chair. "We need to lower that." He sighs. I hook the leash on Bec's collar.

Me and Bec sit in the park. It was chilly. I see teens walking in the moonlight. I remembered how me and Dirk would walk in the moonlight and Bec would bark at birds. I feel tears running down my face. I see a girl on crutches. She was holding hands with another girl.

I roll over to them. The girl looks at me and smiles. "Hello?" The one not on crutches kneels and pets Bec. "I'm Jake." I reach my hand out. "I’m Lily." I look at her. "May I ask what happened?" I say pointing to her pants leg that was tied up.

"I was in a car bad car accident a year ago. I lost my leg. What about you." I look at her. "I have bone cancer in my legs. I know a guy who can build a leg for you." She smiles. "Really?" I nod. "My fiancee builds robotic parts."She looks at me. "What about you?" I chuckle. "I like my chair. I can't use my legs." The other girl looks at me. "I'm Hannah, Lily's girlfriend."

I hear rustling. Then I notice hands on my shoulders. "I'm Dirk. Jake's fiancee" They shake hands and I whip around and hit Dirk in the shin. "ow babe why?" I look up at him. "You scared me." He hugs me. "I'm sorry. He says softly.
