He kept going down dark allies and jumping over fences to catch up to Lyrical.
"If I don't tell him now, I'll never gain this bravery again!" I constantly thought in my head. Last week, Monarchy told me that Mr. Armstrong was planning on telling us to leave Fable, but maybe telling him will make him ask to keep his spot... even if it means I have to leave. Lyrical met up with two guys and a girl, one of them holding a basketball. I gasped at the fact that Lyrical wasn't actually going to practice.
"Aye, Lyric." One of those guys said, "You not practicing tonight?"
I kinda saw that guy before, he was a senior at my school. It looked to me like he was just as popular as Chase, if not more.
"Nah," Lyrical replies nonchalantly, "Kinda don't feel like it tonight. You going to the basketball court?"
He said as he walked away with them. I followed, my curiosity of him growing. I was really shocked! I didn't know Lyrical played basketball, he was really good, too. They played at our neighborhood's little park that had 3 street lights around the basketball court. I sat at the bench and waited for Lyrical to see me, while they were having fun, laughing and punching each other and stuff. I stood up to get a closer look, because boys are strangely interesting creatures, however Lyrical tried to throw the ball into the basket, but one of the guys jumped up and hit it away, all the way towards me! It hit me so quickly I didn't notice at first, until I was on the ground, my face hurt, and I only saw orange.
"Whoa, whoa! Hold up, you guys!" One of them yelled.
I heard one of them walk over to me. I still couldn't open my eyes, so who ever that was, helped me up.
"Aw, man... You alright? Dang, ya nose's red," My vision came back, and it wasn't Lyrical. He was that popular guy!
"I- um.." I murmured and wobbled around.
"Hold up. You shouldn't walk yet."
Lyrical and the other guys ran over to me. A mortified feeling formed in my chest.
"Whoa, Devon'te! You threw it at her nose!" One guy said. I whipped my head towards the familar voice and made eye contact with the owner; Chase. He dressed like a guy that plays basketball but it was still weird to me. Devon'te let go of my shaking arm to shout at Chase,
"Shut up! You saw that it was an accident!".
Lyrical grabbed my arm agressively, "What the heck are you doing here!?"
"Aye, man. don't talk to her like that." That popular boy, Devon'te, said to Lyrical all toughly.
I still felt light headed. "Bernadette, don't move. You still can't stand." Chase said to me. I wanted to cry, I really hoped Chase recognize me.
"You alright?" Lyrical asks starting to looked concern.
"My nose hurts!!!" I cried loudly.
Looking slightly flustered, Lyrical picks me up and they ran like they were being chased. They finally stopped running at an ally, when Lyrical dropped me, causing my butt to totally hurt.
"Why did you follow me?" Lyrical asked looking down at my face.
"I can't remember..." I said, tears running down my face.
"Go home."
"You can't make her walk home by herself." Devon'te said, starting to look angry.
Lyrical looked taken aback, then sighed. "Come on."
-----------------------------------------------------
"Lyrical's your brother? He never mentioned you before." Chase said.
"You alright?" Devon'te asked me (again).
"Y-yes. Thank you... um,"
"Devon." He said.
"Oh! I thought-"
"Devon is my first name and Dante is my middle name-Devon'te."
I smiled at the celebrity-basketball player looking guy smiling at me.
"I'm Bernadette Royal." I said.
"You Italian?"
"Yes. Both of my parents." I said.
He was very fascinated, which was cute. Though he seemed kinda irritable, Devon'te was nice, it was no wonder he's popular like that.
"You know," Mary-Anne (one of Lyrical's friends) said, "You shouldn't come out at night like this, you're too skinny and could easily get kidnapped."
My feelings felt hurt. I'm naive? And she really didn't need to say 'skinny' like that.
"Stay quiet." Lyrical says quietly, "We can't let Mrs. Royal, find us here with her."
"Why?" Chase asked.
"It looks shady, doesn't it? Plus she's super hormonal these days." Lyrical yelled.
I don't like how mean he was being to sweet little Chase, but I agreed; my mother was being extremely hormonal and I was on a constant war-path. The door barraged open and we all stood at my front porch, like a deer in head-lights.
"Lyrical...? Bernardette...? What are you doing?"
We all sighed in relief at the sight of Bonnie.
"Get in this house, right now!" My Mother yelled, from in side the house.
Lyrical glared a Chase as if to blame him, Chase just shrugged with a nervous laugh.
"All of you!"
We ran in, to come face to face my cranky mother who was in her nightgown. "Bernadette, what did they do to you?! Your nose is red!"
I didn't reply.
"Lyrical, I'd better not see you lying to your father, again! And you!" She pointed to Mary anne. "Ware a dress for once! Chase, why are you happy? Wipe that smile off your face right now! And Devon, take that beanie off, you look like a criminal!" Lyrical explained everything as if he was preapred for that to happen and calmed her down, but It was scary how Lyrical was always right about stuff like this.
