Deputy Marshall looked at Sheriff Tibbs in this scared neurotic way. Their flashlights began to flicker on and off. Sheriff Tibbs didn't hear anymore footsteps so he walked over back to the latch and was about to peep his head out. Strangely enough he began to hear the footsteps again getting closer and closer. To Tibbs it sounded like the footsteps were going in every room to check and see if someone was here in this house.

Then that's when Sheriff Tibbs heard a voice and it sounded like a young woman in her twenties maybe. The woman walked very slowly in as you could hear soft footsteps and Tibbs noticed the other footsteps stopped. So Deputy Marshall walked past Tibbs and he was about to climb back up to go and see what the woman wanted.

The woman called out "hey is anyone here Sheriff Tibbs isn't that your car out there?" "This is Elora Linlee I figured you would be here since this was the latest crime scene." "My husband does have a police scanner sheriff." "I wanted to talk with you about how my husband talked to you earlier." "Just come out Paul I'm so sorry for how he talked to you earlier besides anyway we could just to your house and sort this out, unless you wanted to arrest me and take me in." Elora said seductively. Not knowing where she was or what lied behind each corner filled with nothing but pure darkness she walked in looked around. So Elora took out her cell phone and turned on her flashlight "good thing ,my phone has this perk" she said.

She walked into the first room she saw and began treading around. Noticing all the scattered toys and books on the ground she got down on one knee and began looking at what some of the books were about. The first book she picked up was red and she flipped it over and the title of the book was How Jack Got In A Box. She placed it down and saw a green book flipped it over and the title was Hush Little Pumpkin.

Furthermore she picked up one more book and it was orange she flipped it over and the title was My Snugly Cub. Elora began to notice that these were all bedtime stories you read to your children. So she got up and started walking to go to another room and she almost fell over a small toy in the way. She reached down to pick the toy up and noticed it was a small cartoon toy she saw in stores for limited time only. The next room she walked to had a couch and a old fire place she started this must be the living room.

She saw pictures on the mantle place she saw baby pictures of a child then noticed a picture of another child. She assumed that was the same child just who just got older. Then as she kept walking she noticed receipts and bills spread all over the floor. Also a little black book it had names, hundreds of names maybe even thousands. Moreover she as she was skimming through she her husband in the book as Mayor Linlee. Elora placed the book back on the ground and called her husband she noticed her battery life was almost gone and her husband answered the phone.

"Hello Elora is everything alright honey?" He asked. "Don't you honey me Caleb did you give someone money?" She asked very sternly. "No I have never loaned any"-- interrupted by his memory "what is it Caleb who did you loan money to who was it Caleb answer me!" Elora said frustrated. "Now I'm going to need to keep calm and think about what I was trying to do." Caleb said. "TELL ME WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!" Elora exclaimed.

"It was Thomas Sinston you remember that died here in Chatham." "I reached into our children's savings to loan him some money." He said. "HOW MUCH!?" Elora asked. "Thirty thousand" he said " "Jesus Christ" Caleb you know he was known for not paying why in the HELL would you do this now our children want have anything" She said.

"No if he couldn't afford to pay me back I had it where even if something were to happen to him all of his belongings would be sold and paid to me as restitution." "Also I had him forge his wife's signature if something were to happen to Thomas his wife would be garnished every timed she received pay from any employer." Caleb said. "WHAT THE HELL CALEB SO YOU TOOK MONEY FROM HIS WIFE KNOWING THAT SHE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT!" Elora exclaimed.

"It's the price you have to pay if you want to sit a the top." "Where are you now it's 4:50 in the morning Elora?" He asked. Elora hung up her phone as tears slowly running down her face she began walking out of the living room and back towards into the hall way. As she was about to walk out she heard a noise coming from the end of the hallway. Elora walked down to the end of the hall and saw that it was a toy on the ground. It was a wind up walking teddy bear she picked it up and walked back over to the room filled with toys and child books and threw it in there.

Then walked out of the room she noticed something back at the end of the hall it was a piece of paper. Then as Sheriff Tibbs and Deputy Marshall heard Elora picking up that piece of Paper they heard the footsteps again and the pace was picking up step after step. About to push the latch open to check on Elora Tibbs grabbed Marshall and put his finger above his mouth signaling him to be quiet. Still not sure what was in the house with them Tibbs grabbed Marshall and walked back over to the back of the room and whispered to him "we can't go up there we don't know what we're dealing with." He said.

Meanwhile as Elora picked up the piece of paper she read out what was on it and it said "It's not over." Nervous and still crying she turned around awkwardly and slowly. She this figure she couldn't make out if it was a man or woman as the figure started walking closer she backed up the one room she was close enough to go to. Unfortunately that was the room the master bedroom Thomas died in. Closing the door behind her the figure began knocking on the door slowly and hard. Then came the fast violent frantic knocks harder and harder.

Elora's heart pounding faster and faster she could soon hear her heartbeat. Soon the knocks stopped and then she noticed the doorknob was turning and then it fell off like the figure unscrewed it. Of course the door began slowly opening and Elora took her phone and shined the light on the figure. She couldn't' believe what was she was seeing. "I thought you were dead it's impossible you can't be." Running to the closet and locking the door she started calling her husband on her phone again. Then the slow and violent knocks came again turning into rapid frantic knocks. Her husband answered "Hello Elora WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?" The door knob began to turn and fall off again. "LISTEN TO ME CALEB IT'S NOT-- interrupted by whatever the figure was the phone dropped and the call is still on. Caleb crying to Elora" ELORA ELORA ELORA WHAT IS IT?"

Also Sheriff Tibbs and deputy Marshall in the basement all eveyone could hear was a huge scream coming from Elora and and that was it. Then Deputy Marshall pushed Tibbs out of the way "I'm going to help DAMN YOU SIR!" Marshall exclaimed. Then as everything got quiet again they heard the foot steps coming directly in their direction but this it sounded like someone was running then you could hear the hatch being pulled up and the someone climbing down the lights were off and the flashlight wouldn't work.

This figure slowly climbed down and waled over and stood directly in front of Tibbs and Marshall. They couldn't tell what it was it was so dark and then they heard a blade being rubbed across wall. Both if their breathing picked up as the figure walking towards them "DAMMIT SIR DON'T YOU HAVE YOUR GUN!" Marshall exclaimed. That's when it hit Tibbs he did indeed have his gun but he wasn't thinking about it at the time. He handed Marshall his 9mm pistol and he reached down in his boot for his. 22 snub nose and they both took aim at the figure.

Tibbs yelled out "SHOOT!" They were shooting repeatedly until their magazine was empty and they noticed the figure started stumbling a little backwards, but kept coming. Nevertheless they kept firing and after their clips empty the figure gained its balance back started walking towards them again. "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?" Deputy Marshall asked. As the figure was maybe a foot away from they closed their eyes. Then Tibbs phone went off it was his arm and he opened his eyes nothing was there in front of them. He looked at his phone and it was 5:00 in the morning.
