The sun peeked out from behind the mountains and shone on the earth. The dirt was dyed red from the blood.

Zereth and Xarius began to awake as the light kissed their faces.

The sight they see is not their campsite in the forest, but Rygus next to them, staring at Helle's unusual weapon. 

The Asher transformed into the shape of a spear and was stabbed deep in the ground. Slowly, it sucked up the blood from the earth and returned it its healthy color.

"Let it eat," Helle said calmly, "It's been hungry for a few days."

She wasn't lying when she said that the Asher will "suck your blood and burn you to ash".

Confused, Zereth asked, "Where are we?"

"We are in a cave right now, though we do not know the exact location." Rygus answered.

"Why?" This time, it was Xarius who questioned.

"We were being chased by peasants."

"How did they find us? Our campsite is at least 200 feet away!"

"The smoke from the fire, Zereth. We were careless."

"Well," Xarius stood up and stretched his back, "the good news is, we are closer to Wintry Mountains thanks to their chase. If my calculation is correct, we should arrive in the evening."

They checked their luggage and continued on with their journey.

Rygus walked up to Zereth's pace and inquired, "Zereth, I've been meaning to ask you. Do you have telepathy power? Can you read my mind?"

"I'm interested in the Bluers' powers, too." Xarius added.

Zereth organized his thought and words for a minute and explained, "All Bluers obtain basic skills such as telepathy, invisibility, telekinesis, extra strength, flight, etc. In addition to that power, however, Bluers also have different types of powers such as light, earth, air, fire, enhance, reality, and life. In all, life is the most powerful power of all, which runs through our family, the Sapphire. We can kill, create, control, and heal. However, in order to bring a person back to life, one must trade with another's life, his own or other's."

"Woah, complicated." Rygus gasped in astonishment. "The Kersia family's powers are just from training to obtain superhuman skills such as extreme speed, agility, strength, and assassins skills. My dagger, the Ripper, is a treasured heirloom passed from generation to generation."

"I'm one of the only Noble family that have magical powers. My weapon is the Asher, and I don't really know where it came from. It appeared one day in front of me after my mother gave me this amulet, the Blood Star. All I've figured out about Asher is that it gets stronger after it devours more souls and blood. I think it obtains its energy through life."

Xarius joined in the conversation silently, "My tribe don't have any powers. We are born in the forest and are designed to live with them and absorb the energy from different lives. Of course, basic survival skills are needed. But also we became extra cautious, sensitive, and agile from other untrained humans."

As they chatted, the giant wall of snow stood in front of them. Chilly breeze from the top of the mountain swooshed down and glided through the four.

They have arrived the Wintry Mountains.
