Hours after the mysterious event occurred Jay was barely waking up. She was in the school's infirmary, beside her was Luke. His eyes were closed but it was noticeable he shed some tears. He was scared, but he turned directly at her.
“Are you awake?” he asked softly
“What happened?” Jay asked “Wait, what was going on? What was that purple light?”
“Calm down whatever it was it didn’t seem to affect anyone” Luke responded, “Forget the purple light how are you doing”
“I’m fine, I- I need to get up and breath some air”
“We can’t… Police has barricaded the school”
“Do you think it was another country declaring war?”
“No, there’s no sense in doing this, no profit, no gains, no reason”
Something weird was going on… things may never be the same.
After several hours, the parents and guardians of all the students came to pick up their children. Anna was so relieved that Luke was alive and healthy. She praised the lord frantically and kept pinching his cheek which he was not too fond of. He did appreciate the gesture. Luke said goodbye to Jessie after she found her parents. Everyone was startled however, nothing was getting out of hand. On the way back home he wondered about the voice he had heard, he knew whatever it was… it wasn’t human.
It’s been over three weeks, almost everything was either closed or unmanaged. The food was starting to run low for Luke and his family. Everybody stayed indoors watching the news for any updates on the mysterious lights. So far they haven’t been able to determine what was this thing. They called it the “Purple Fairy”, and so far it seems it had happened around the world, not just their city. It seems they landed in one country each. News were saying that no country seemed to have been involved, this has been taken each government and would be pursued further in secret.
With that in mind, we go back to our protagonist, Luke has been in his room for the most part. He didn't mind the whole hazard warnings, he didn’t care much for the outside world as much as he used to. Still, he kept in touch with Jay, texting and talking on their phones, there were going to school the next day. They thought that everybody was going to start talking and act scared and play the victim. They just detested the day before even going there. They went to bed around midnight.
The morning was relatively the same, with some remarks of "Be careful" and "Take care of yourself" as well as ever so subtle "Do you want a knife to defend yourself?" By Anna. To which Luke replied with "Yeah" "Mhmm" and "Why would I want a knife for school?"
"Just checking, everything might get jacked up 'cause of that fairy"
It was obvious that she was nervous, Anna had a clean and clear accent but due to recent events, she started to revert back to when she was younger with a southern accent. Luke felt best not to point it out. With that, he went off, with his sweater wrapped around his waist and a casual get up to go with it. Now was the halfway through the first month of spring, and temperatures were starting to rise as they usually would. He met with Jay, which she was wearing a gray set of clothes with hints of purple, what stood out the most was the owl with purple eyes. Something else he noticed is that she was also jittery, nervous or excited. They headed towards the school and they didn’t see the usual students who walked, they thought nothing of it. When they arrived the term "Ghost Town" made much more sense now. They didn’t see almost any kid with a small few here and there. They had the first period together so they had to see what the teacher had to say about all this. In class there was only one other girl beside them, it was "Ms. Favorite". She scowled at them and looked in the other direction. The teacher, who was a man in his thirties wearing the semi-formal getup teachers should wear, this was Mr. Conner.
"Uh, I didn’t really have a clue what I should teach, so a free day?" Connor said uncertainty
"CAN ME A LUKE BE EXCUSED FOR A BIT?" Jessie asked rather loudly
"Luke and I" Conner corrected "but yeah you can just don’t do anything... explicit"
Before Luke could question his statement on the "explicit" part he was dragged outside by Jay. She let go of him and said to follow her. After some walking and looking around for cameras they ended up in one of the schools' alleys. Now he was thinking "What the fuck is she going to do to me?"
"Okay, I'm going to show you something that will blow your mind," she said excitedly with crazed look on her face
"Look, I like you as a friend," Luke said quickly, after that they paused in confusion
"What? No, not- you know what just look" she said raising her hand
Luke slightly opened his eyes to look at her hand, and nothing happened. He was about to question what was happening yet again but he noticed the hand started glowing. This glow started as white but around the edges, the color blue started to take up space in her hand. Luke almost forgot to keep squinting, to which he closed his eyes and faced Jay with a concerned look.
"We have to get you to a hospital, or a scientist, or maybe-” he started to utter
“What?! No, please you can’t tell anybody” She started pleading
“You’re a fucking glow stick, why shouldn’t I tell someone!?”
“No, no, no, there’s more to this! Here, just look”
She raised her glowing hand and started to touch the wall next to them, it was started to fog and the wall, the wall it… started to freeze. It started spreading bigger, and Jessie pulled away. She smiled hysterically, she couldn’t believe it either.
“You, have powers…” Luke said quietly peeping at the ice.
