Marlene stared after her fleeing friend in dismay. She had wanted Gracie to meet Shadow ever since they became friends, but she never meant it to be like this. All she could do now was to try and calm her friend down. But first she need Gracie to come back to her if she was to even attempt it. She turned to tell Shadow to do so only to have him spring past her on all fours before she could even say anything.
Marlene watched as Shadow bounded after her friend's fleeing form without being told to go and catch her. In a few short moments, he had caught up to her and then leapt past her to a spot directly in front of her. He then turned around and stood in a half crouch with his arms out to catch her when she ran into him.
Gracie tried to stop before she hit him, but he was too close, and she crashed into him face first. Running into Shadow was like running into a wall and she was momentarily stunned on impact. She bounced off him and stumbled backwards away from him, but he caught her before she could fall over and hurt herself. After he caught her, he wrapped her in an odd sort of bear hug using both his arms and wings to pin her to him. Doing this immobilized her arms and legs and kept her from hitting and kicking him while he was holding on to her.
It did not, however, stop Gracie from screaming her head off at him. He gave Gracie a pained look caused by the noise coming out of her mouth and the fear she must feeling before looking over at Marlene. He saw her covering her own ears because of the noise and wished he could do the same with his currently nonexistent ones. Well, he did have them in a sense as he could still hear, but they didn't have physical form when he was humanoid, so he wouldn't have been able to block out the screaming even if his hands were free. Their lack of substance didn't keep them from hurting though and he let out a soft whine at Marlene before straightening up from his half crouch and bringing Gracie back to her.
"Could you please stop screaming, Miss Jones?" Shadow asked her politely as he carried her. "I have no intention of harming you, Miss Jones, and your screaming is hurting my ears."
"So! I'm hurting your Fucking ears, am I?" she screamed at him. "Well, screw you, you Fucking BAST-"
"Please don't swear at me either, Miss Jones." Shadow told her, cutting her off mid-insult. He sighed when she ignored his request and continued to scream a string of curses, various swear words, and insults at him at the top of her lungs. He did his best to bear with it until he got to Marlene.
