I was now reaching three and a half meters in length and had no signs of stopping. It was almost my fourth week as a prisoner here and the bed I made had to be increased to fit my size which was almost two-fifths of the small room, leaving only a bit of space for the small lake with was now a puddle for me.

It was sad since I could no longer take baths which usually happened after a meal to remove blood from my body so I was now more careful while eating. After the day with the Minotaur I was introduced to a group of Orcs to fight, an ugly bipedal demi-human who were armed with a variety of weapons which attacked me when I was sleeping but were dealt with fast.

Another notable creature I fought with was a Hippogriff a golden feathered beast that had the face of an eagle with the body of a horse. It was a shame killing such a beautiful animal but hunger affects me heavily which is probably caused by my ongoing growth.

My limbs started looking more defined since the start of my time here hatching from an egg. I now had a longer neck and the chubby and small arms which I had, became twice their length with powerful muscles.

The small arm like limbs I had in my back were wings to my surprise. They were still small and unable to lift me from the ground but now I knew that I was no normal lizard but a dragon. I had yet to breathe fire even though I tried to do so in the battles to eat, especially to have a cooked meal which I missed. It was lonely being here and I would be lost in thought often since there is nothing to do, I missed technology like my cell phone which I used daily.

Today I did a bit of battle practice stretching and filing my nails in the hard rocks to keep them from overgrowing before feeling sleepy. I only had time to move back to bed. It was like being forced to sleep since I would sometimes be busy then the feeling of being drowsy suddenly hits me.

I came by to a new day or so I guessed since I have yet to know how the hours work here, so waking up I would usually carve a tally in the wall. It seems today would be a Thursday of my fourth week here. I went to the larger room while stretching myself to check on today’s opponent but stopped just before entering and stood in shock.

I felt a rush of mixed feelings of both joy and agitation at the same time, in the entrance, there was a human girl laying down probably unconscious. I needed to plan this well since I wanted to find a way to communicate with her but also feared that my hunger might get the better of me. Walking a few more steps with the intention of waking her up from a distance with loud stomps worked and she slowly rose, seeing me she began to pull back until her back was stopped by the wall.

Around her was a sword and small shield but it didn’t match her age since I could compare her to a middle or high school student. I was a bit angry at why they would place this child to fight me. Since she was clearly scared and I would not be able to get through to her I stepped back and went inside my room again.

I was starting to get hungry but I was sure just that kid was not going to satisfy me if she was going to be eaten and forced myself back to sleep. I started hearing the sounds of someone fighting when I came to and went to see what was happening.

A humanoid creature almost resembling what I think is a troll was swinging its arms trying to crush the girl to which she quickly jumped to avoid the hit since its back was facing me it didn’t take notice of me. Before it swung down in what seems to be the decisive blow I blew him away with my tail with all the strength which caused him to hit the wall with a strong impact, luckily it didn’t get up afterward.

The girl was curled in a ball awaiting her turn to be killed, seems she lost the will to fight. I went to the troll and started eating not minding the girl again, I had to quickly satisfy my hunger and finishing up I went back to the room to clean the blood.

I had yet to come up with a plan to interact with the girl but I first needed to show her I would not be hostile at least towards her. After my meal, I laid down in the entrance of the larger room to rest while observing the girl.

At first, she was cautious of me not moving while sitting near a wall with her shield in front and the sword stabbed in the ground near her left side. After a while she began looking at the arm I left behind maybe she was starting to get hungry but she looked at it with some disgust.

I let out a yawn causing her to pick up the sword but since I didn’t move afterward she got tired and placed it back down. She glanced at the arm again and looked back at me, I gestured with a side nod for her to eat it. Understanding me she got up and used her knife she had hidden to cut off pieces of meat and other parts like the hairs around the arm.

With the parts that could be used to make a fire, she began using flint to create sparks and made what looked like to be a small campfire. Using the sword to hold the meat over the fire she started to eat, glancing over often to check on me. I decided to pretend to be asleep so she could have a peaceful meal at least.

When she was done eating the fire was still lit with her huddled in front with her arms around her knees, the shield was still near her side. I rose up and slowly walked near her which put her on alert placing the shield above her but had yet to back away like before. I sat near but with a few meters of distance between us and she sat back down.

I yawned again and then placed the tip of my tail near the fire as I was a bit curious if I had resistance towards the flame. It didn’t burn and only felt warm even when directly placed on the flame. The girl stared at my actions with a bit of surprise and said a few words I could not understand. I let out a small sigh and turned my face away annoyed that I could not understand her and went to sleep.

It was day two with the girl and waking up she was resting near where the campfire was made yesterday, there was no opponent so maybe it was a bit too early for that but if we stayed here the next monster placed would attack us. Using my tail which I got fawn of using like an extra hand I tapped her shoulder carefully, she was lightly snoring but rose up quickly rubbing her eyes.

She spoke but I could not understand what she was saying so with the tail I pointed to the other room then started walking ahead. Coming into the room and seeing the lake she got a bit surprised. Although it’s a lake the water is always moving so there should be no problem if she drinks from where the water drips down from the ceiling.

I began to lay down and rest in my bed watching her clean her hands and face seems the water was too cold to take a dip. Unlike before she probably noticed my intention of not wanting to hurt her but never the less she never came close and showed respect. Feeling sleepy I began to doze off while hoping nothing happens to the girl.

While resting there was something tapping on my arm causing me to look around. It was the girl who used her shield which made a loud noise when coming in contact with my scales, but stopped when she saw me move and started pointing to the entrance of the cave.

Going out to see what was in the larger room there was a smaller dragon but with no wings moving around, when it saw me it started doing a deep low pitched growl. It was about three meters with a strong sturdy body with spiky scales so it would be hard if I can’t pin him down fast.

It started to charge trying to ram me from the front when I fully entered the room to which I readied my tail. As it got close I hooked the tail to one of his arms causing him to jerk to the right then I used some strength with my arms to tumble him to the side and tried to go for a bite but only managed to get his underarm which didn’t have sharp scales. I backed away after injuring him and wait for him to make the next move.

Without being able to charge again it curled itself and maintained its position. I tried getting close but some of the spiky scales began to shoot out like projectiles, they missed but I dared not get close again.

The battle prolonged for about half an hour with us maintaining a distance and I could not bring it down, with no choice but to wait or get close and take a chance to do a final blow at the cost of injury I had to think carefully. It was then that the girl who was behind me had a weird aura surrounding her and gestured that I move to the side.

Charging her power a bit more she released a large amount of fire towards the dragon, while it didn’t kill it he became defenseless. Since fire didn’t affect my scales when we were near the campfire I went close and finally got a decisive bite killing off the dragon.

We split the food not that she could eat a whole dragon but got what she needed to be satisfied. I was worried about where I would place the body since I usually buried the creatures that I could not fully eat, yet this kill is one of the largest so far but I placed that worry for later.

When I finished eating around a new campfire the girl built, I took a glance at her who was slowly eating while lost in thought. Since I was further away yesterday when she made a fire I couldn’t really see her clearly but it seems she had light tone hair although the color couldn’t be made out well as it was between blond and brown maybe with red mixed in.

Her features were a between European and Middle Eastern but clearly still had a child’s face. Waiting until she finished eating, I tried getting her attention by pointing at the fire with my tail than at her trying to get to explain or use what she did before which was nothing other than magic. After a few tries, she finally got it and stood up.

“Haf’s dir saer novrk.”

I could not understand her but just like before some force surrounded her and heat began to mix in she then had a small flame dancing in her palm. After a few minutes of increasing its size she made it disappear and looked at me, she was clearly tired so maybe using up magic is like in games where it depletes magic points.

Recovering herself after a few pants she sat back down and tried speaking again but noticed I could not understand. She pointed at the fire and then at me but seeing that I was clueless she acted out something along the lines of me breathing fire.

Since I gave up on the idea fast before believing it couldn’t be done I set a goal of practicing till I could do it today. Recalling the moment I woke up and had many body parts like my double eyelid I could not control maybe breathing fire was the same and I had yet to activate the right way to do it.

The rest of the day was spent practicing and learning every part of my body that I haven’t fully used like my wings. Although they could not be used for flight especially with this small room I started exercising them for a day I could use them in the near future.

It was late during that day the girl is asleep near my nest, guess she knows there will be a new monster by morning by now and the safest place would be near me. I was in the larger room still trying to breathe fire, up until now I kept trying a variety of coughs, yawns, and roars but I could not find the way to unleash fire.

I was getting tired when I felt a small hiccup with a weird sensation after it. Coughing while letting out small sparks when I concentrated harder, the feeling that was near the backside of my throat was not normal it was like the heat was collected in that spot. It was lukewarm but remembering how the fire felt on the tip of my tail the day of the campfire it was the same.

There was also some pressure building around my chest, this must be the force that surrounded the girl when she was casting fire so this must be magic. I was kind of happy with my new discovery but I could not reduce the hiccups now it was a pain.

I went to the first room and had water before sleeping in the entrance of the larger room, it would be sad if they attack the girl while I sleep so I had to guard the entrance, I just hope I won’t be rudely awakened.
