A Tale of Ice and Fire

A Long Night

A Long Night

Oct 18, 2017

"Come on, Al! You have  to go. Everybody's going to be there, and I can't go alone!" My best friend, Sam Alliser, has bees pestering me about this stupid college party ever since break started. "For the last time, no. I am not going to another stupid party where every guy within four hundred feet starts gaping at me!" "Oh, come on. that only happened once. And it wasn't even on purpose! It wasn't their fault that your shirt ripped at the exact same time that all of the guys started to come in." Sam stops touching up her mascara to smirk over at me. "Oh, come on, you know perfectly well that you did it. And that is why I'm never going to another party again." Now I've got her. She Hates whenever I turn stuff around on her. "Look, that was an accident, okay? And besides, I already have the best outfit picked out for you!" She bends over and reaches into a shopping bag next to the counter, and pulls out the most provocative little black dress I've ever seen. "Whoah. Is that for me, or Malibu Barbie?" She laughs, and then proceeds to pull out a two inch pair of black heels. Not the worst shoes ever, but still. Could it've killed her to at least tell me before she started to go out and dress me like a stripper? "I'm thinking maybe a little pink lip gloss, and some dark eyeshadow, and you'll be killer." "And just what  makes you think that  I'm ever going to wear these?" I ask. Not just out of sarcasm; I'm genuinely concerned that she's going to pull some dirty trick out of het sleeve, and that if I don't go, I'll wake up covered in honey or itching powder. It seems far fetched, but last time, when I accidentally spoiled the end of a book, I wasn't able to sleep for a week. she smirks. Oh no, not good. I'm in really big trouble now. Oh, please don't be honey, please don't let it be honey. "Alice King, If you don't Step into those shoes and put on that outfit in the next fifteen minutes, I'm going to spoil the whole ending of Game of Thrones." Oh, no she didn't. Not that. I mean, I knew it would be bad, but I didn't think that even she would stoop this low. "Uggghhhhhhh. Fine. But just so you know, if I get gawked at for over a period of five minutes, I'm never forgiving you." She looks too happy to care about that. "Great! then you have a half hour to get ready, and do your makeup, and then we're outta here!" She runs into the other room, leaving me to struggle my way into a mass of too tight black silk and heels. Its going to be a long night.

As warm, welcoming and dangerous as fire,
and as cold, beautiful, and deadly as ice.

17 year old Alice King had no idea what she got herself into when she met 18 year old Caden Jackson at a high school party. Cold and distant, and spending most of her time in serene silence, she was surprised that someone like him would even notice her. Her friends called her the Ice Queen; a girl as beautiful, and as cold as ice. Well, her looks never really failed to earn her extra, and usually unwanted, attention. As soon as she walked into a room, everyone stopped and stared. she hated them; the stares and whispers that seemed to follow her everywhere she went. be they jealous or admiring, or possessive, they never seemed to go away. Perfect, the whispers said. too perfect. and then here she was, running around with a guy she knows almost nothing about, but a guy who looks at her as if she was human. someone who makes her feel human.

i'll try to upload once a week, around the weekends. All credit for the thumbnail goes to Jill of itsthenerdyninja, go check out her comic, Jay in comic form.
