I was sitting on some stone rubble in a place of ruins. It seemed like ruins of an old, fallen castle. Sand surrounded us completely and the wind did not help. It was pretty windy, so lots of sand was blowing around, lightly attacking us. With this slightly heavy sand blowing around, as well as it being night time, it was definitely hard to see distance around us.
I was sitting on some rubble that was arranged in the shape of a square. There was a small campfire in the middle. Across from me sat another figure. It was a mysterious figure of a man of whom I did not know, but for some reason I knew that it was someone that saved me once before. We both were cloaked in clothing that covered most of ourselves to protect us from the sands.
We did not speak, we just sat in silence, holding ourselves down, not to be swayed by the winds.
…
Then something in me told and forced me to stand. And that, I did. Unsure of what to think or feel, I looked at the mysterious man. A second passed.
Suddenly the winds began to pick up and they blew harder and more violently. To this point, I was already swept off my feet and hovering in the air. He got up immediately, foot locked between the rubble so he wouldn’t have been taken as well. He rose up his hand to reach for my hand to bring me back to safety… but it was too late. I was already beyond his reach.
I had already flown up so high that he looked like a small coin.
Then the violent winds…took me straight down. At that moment of force, it seemed like the flow of time slowed. I watched every single grain of sand slowly fall with me. Looking beyond the grains, the mysterious man, arm still reached out, seemed to have unlatched his foot and running ever so slowly towards where I was falling.
Then SNAP. There was no more sandstorm. I did not feel anything anymore. The earth laid sideways in my vision. I could see him running towards me. Just a shadow coming closer, away from that fire.
Before I could see him reach me, my eyes closed.
…
I opened my eyes. I was sitting on a moving subway ride. Looking down, then up. I looked straight in front of me at the reflection of the glass across from where I was sitting, I was him… I was that mysterious figure. The girl, the one that fall from above was nowhere to be seen.
But before knowing what was going on, I was chasing after someone… someone that might know what happened and where the girl was. They were running from me. They were switching through subway lines quickly. I followed behind flawlessly.
Until, I slipped up for about two seconds and those two seconds cost me. This someone hopped onto a subway line. Picking myself up from my slip, the doors closed right in front of me. When I looked up through the glass windows of the door to have a last look of this someone who might have had answers, they turned around to face me.
It was me… he had my face. Time had seemed to freeze then.
The subway train horn sounded and time began again. And the subway train, along with the mysterious rider were gone.
